Failed Inspection

I couldn't believe this, but my car failed annual inspection today. The reason was excessive NO (Nitrogen Oxide?) gas (23 vs 20 Gal/Min). The guy was telling me the CAT converter is shot and wanted to replace it. I wasn't sure if he tried to rip me off so I refused. I plan to go to another station and see what result I'll get. Is there some engine or gas treatment I can use to reduce the emission before I go?

Thanks,
Dennis

it is possible that your cat is failing. you should swap it if it is and check out www.warpspeedperformance.com to find out why your cat is failing...

Was your car fully warmed up? It takes a bit for the cat to heat up.

Yes, I drove on local streets until engine temperature reached normal. But I had to wait almost 1 hour at the shop before they checked my car. Next time I should drive on highway for 30 minutes to make sure it's all warmed up. Some friend told me add some "Fuelon" to the gas tank will help.
