Floormats
oh darn, it used to be working. Could always make them for a 4th gen and remember your preferences and apply for a third gen. "LatinMax" had his made from there, he said quality was excellent.
edit: oh snap, it's working now...

I have black floor mats in my otherwise all tan/brown car. It's really subtle and I haven't gotten anyone complaining about the "color clashing" thing.
Make sure the floormats have some grip too. My floormats was so old and worn that sometimes I find it move up towards the pedal, which can be a hazard. So I toss my Driver side floormat into the passenger side. I have black/dark flooring so I don't completely need to buy one right now. Like MyGreenMax94, I have other priorities like maintenance.
A dealership wanted 80 bones for a 5.5 gen floormats. It that normal? Thousand Oaks is a rich hood but $80?

plus,i don't like where they put the stitching anyway, you can't see it if the seat is pushed forward..
Here is black mats without the black seats.

Wayne, have you thought about using that black upholstry spray paint that can be found at auto parts stores? I forget the name exactly, but I used some and it worked like a charm.
I keep forgetting I have advanced search now, I found the thread I was thinking of:

Oops, sorry for not clarifying. I meant using the spray to touch up your already black floor mats.

Yours doesn'r have the little hooks to hold them in place? I still have the original mats and they are in excellent condition for 17 years old.

I had them on but for some reason it won't hold the mats down. Maybe I'm too rough on them. But I'll need new ones anyway.
The diamond plate mats I seen on eBay looked pretty cool. But I thought $100 shipped was a bit too much so I went to Menards to see if I could just buy some tread metal that I could cut to the shape of my old mats. Turnes out they had em at $50 per 24"x24'' sheet, so there goes that idea. So I guess eBay price isn't that bad.
A ricer is someone who makes his car look like it's faster than it actually is to make an impression on other people. Tread plate mats obvously have nothing to do with performance and most people won't even see them. The Fast and the Furious ruined a lot of things. Pretty much everything they got in that movie is now "rice". Other than that, I don't see any other problem with tread plate mats. They don't rust, they don't warp, and nothing could be easier to clean. I mean, there are things that are rice straight up like tin can exhaust that makes your car sound turbo, and there are some thigs which are not that bad of ideas if they weren't labeled as rice by a few people. That's just my opinion.

how well do you suppose diamond plate floor mat will perform?
Alright, I didn't think of that. Now you actually made a good case, instead of saying that they are no good just because they're considered rice. But then what's the point of protecting your carpet if you're always gonna cover it in the first place?

if your mats got ugly...toss them out...buy a new set. i'm pretty sure it's easier to do that than to replace the entire carpet..ya know what i mean?
well...true the carpet is covered..but if you had mud/dirt/dog poo on the carpet..do you know how much cleaning you need to do to get that out (besides the stink)?

the other thing is sound dampening. there'a a good deal of sound insulation under the carpet and wiring. so having some carpet to cover it would be a nice touch.
rubbers mats are pretty useful...esp in the snow/mud climates.
So the moral of the story is that tread plate mats aren't a good idea from a functional point of view. I can live with that. And I could've sworn I've seen someone here on the org with a 3rd gen that had those. His interior looked really good. Wonder who that was.
chris91se wayyyyyyy back in the day had them...but those were only put in the car for shows.

Mind describing it to us?
