Stockpile parts?
I hope have my Max forever, so should I stockpile the parts it needs like window regulators?
Also where can I get the best price for a new dash panel, Courtesy is over $600, random sites list it for $550. But the way auto parts sites have proliferated its hard to know who you are dealing with.

heck. only stockpile parts if they are coming off a parts car for free. people tend to stock pile and never find the part they need when they need it, or a spouse gets ticked at all the "crap" they've stock piled.

Check junk yards for a dash, I've seen several in Great shape (depends how long they been sitting out there. Or you can catch someone parting out.... I didn't have room and threw out a good dash.
A great place to find parts are in Junk cars on craigslist. There are alot of maximas on there with blown motors and good everything else. I got my whole interior from the last parts car i got.

Its nice to have parts stocked up, but if youre gona buy them, might as well wait for the part to be needed and then buy it. A dash panel for $600! JY ones should be like 30-50 probably, although i do have a tan/brown one for sale..

I've personally never seen a 3rd gen with a split dash yet.

yeah, i was gona say, these arent like 3rd gen camaros or some of those older cars that crack, and the max's dashboards seem too soft to split, my original brown dash was fine and it got replaced with a JY black dash thats fine, and my parts cars dash was fine too.

Do you think thats sun damage or from some sort of cut or scrape? It looks like a cut, my parts cars dash got cut while removing it, just above the glovebox and it looked like taht but smaller and horizontal, well if not, we have are first documented 3rd gen dash crack.

A friend hit my old dash with his fists and caused big cracks in it. It hardens through the cycles of being heated by the sun and later cooling, but usually wont brake on its own unless something else happens.
I got a good one out of the junk yard for like $30. They wanted more at first, but once I said that I wont need the guage cluster or the vents, I was able to bargain it down.

i wouldnt dis cameros its just gm cars and more the "big 3" in general
while i installed car audio for bb and cc i noticed alot of the "big 3" cars that were older than 7-10 years interiors were just falling apart especially when we had to remove door panels to install speakers some times we had to hot glue them back together but the forien cars "for the most part" were in much better condition and much less brittle when taken apart
personally my max interior is about as close to mint for being 16 years old and having
155k miles as you can get im very pleased so is my 17yo toyota previa but my f150s leave so to be disired but i dont expect much from them either
