Still Love My '91

I think its been just over a year since I bought it and have since changed the timing belt, MAF sensor, stereo system, tires, battery, brakes and rotors, starter and new rear shelf carpet. The only thing a shop did was the timing belt. This car is so easy to work on and great for hauling the family and fast for its type. Enough ranting but I love it!!

My '91 has 250k with the original eng.,trans., clutch and injectors. The original alternator was replaced at 210k with worn brushes (it still worked). I still get 27 MPG and the car is still fun to drive. I still see a lot of 3rd gens on the road, but not a lot of old Taurus' or Intrepids.................

That's some good luck. Are you the original owner?

With only 166k's on mine it is well worth every penny. I do have that nasty paint bubble on driver side rear by gas tank. I will save another few hundred by doing it myself. Shops are a huge rip off!! Has anyone found a way to put 6X9 speakers in the front yet?

DUDE! get that paint bubble checked out for rust if it's by the fuel door. there was a recall about rust forming in that area, which causes the seatbelt mounts to fail in a crash. And maybe damage to the metal filler neck too... but take it to your dealership and have them check that out.

Armor All protectant wipes make me cringe. I can't stand using anything like that on my car, it's oily and shiny and wet and ugh. I felt like I was lubed when I got out of my mom's Buick the other day. (Because of Armor All Leather Wipes)

Better throw all that **** away and go get Maguires products.

Third gen love

I purchased a 91 se from a guy one time who had to get it out of his parents driveway so needless to say I got a good deal on it. He told me he had "upgraded to 93 Ford Explorer" all I could do was laught to myself while driving away. The car was in mint cond. and hauled a$$ on the highway. After I had put some hyper black ADRs, partial lip kit and blacked out the windows I chanced to see him staring at me from his "upgrade" at a traffic light one day. I rolled down the window and his girlfriend was saying to him "I gaurentee you that he would never sell it back to you" we both snickered as I left his noisy a$$ slow Ford Explorer and ran up the highway on ramp and dissapeared into traffic. Dollar for dollar a third gen Maxima has been my smartest vehicle purchase I've ever made.
