FI questions for the ve30de
Ok, so im sure alot of you remember my threads, where i found out my injectors were bad.. by bad resistance readings.
Im trying to save money, since if i replace one, i will replace all six, which will wind up costing me probably around $700 in parts. ( total in gaskets, and other things i should replace at the same time, like fuel filter)
Lets say, I sent my bad ones out to be cleaned & balanced, would that fix the bad resistance? Ive been asking this question to friends, and even just asked the guy from nissan parts, he didnt know.
If the resistance can be fixed by cleaning professionally, i wouldnt even send MINE out, id find a junker and rip its 6 injectors out. Cause I cant be without a car while I send them out to be done.

resistance can not be fixed by any rebuilder out there. it's not cost effective for a rebuilder, they pay $2 for a core and just throw out the ones that fail a resistance test. those that pass are cleaned and resold as rebuilt

by that smiley i assume your stand on rebuilt injectors is not a good one.
Me on the otherhand, am a huge fan of saving a few hundred dollards, so long as they would work properly, and not fail.
So it's fairly cheap for them to repair even ones with bad resistance. hmm

which is why he hates rebuilts. they fail.

Maybe if any used/rebuilt injector wasnt already in an engine for at least 15 years, you might have better luck with them, but as it stands anything but new will just fail soon after.

I woudn't put trust in anything rebuilt. But if you have to, don't do it with parts that can leave you a) stranded or b) PITA to get to incase it goes bad again.

Don't trust em'. Had a rebuilt starter go on me after only a year. I can't afford to be stranded like that. Who cares if I go and get another one for free for the rest of my life. I'll never get that day back. And I know it wasn't my flywheel that destroyed it, cause the current one(rebuilt) is on their for 2 years already.
Alty, starter, and fuel pump = dealer for me. Also a red top battery is a good investment.

get brand new injectors or known good used injectors from someone on here. i wouldn't go any other way. and make sure you get nissan o-rings for injectors from the dealership, I did my front injectors and bought 9 o-rings from parts store, all 9 tore, bought 3 o-rings from dealership...cheaper suprisingly, and 20x better quality, worked the first time.

you could, but the last 2 sets I sold of their "new" ones for a VG (89-92) leaked right out of the box. I stopped selling them after that. Brand new is the only way to go with third gen injectors.
and in order of preference:
1. Brand new Bosch / OEM or reboxed OEM (AKA Bosch)
2. Used pulled from a running car
4. used from a non-running car
5. used from a trash can
6. Rebuilts
