should i be concerned about....

my tranny.
92 gxe auto 143k miles.
been doing this since i've had the car.
part throttle or less shifts like my old 3rd gen.

but when flooring it there's like a delay no slipping or flaring.
she'll rev all the way to 6,000-6500rpms stay then shift.

but i don't think it does it when the power mode is selected.
if auto or comfort it does it.

the tranny you can say was rebuilt about 3/4 years ago (sat 2 years in the garage).
fluid fine, smells fine.

Well Stillman, is it like a hesitation? like itl rev up to 6k or whatever and then sorta sit there, then shift, or just revs to high before shifting? Eithway i wouldnt take my engine to 6500 while flooring it. I dont see why the power/comfort switch would do anything either, that only effect shift patterns under part throttle, but who knows... maybe wiking or someone else can chime in.

sits there then shift. does'nt rev to 6k then flares up then shift into next gear.
not slow either like tryin to build up pressure.

i know what a slipping tranny feels like...my ve was doing that with 3rd gear.
And power/comfort does make a difference.

My memory fails here

Does self diag go through?

Bad TPS caused terriblese wait periods and sudden changes in my max. Have you tested it?

umm i'l try.

self diag. the power like comes on for about 3 seconds then go out.
iirc if there's something wrong the P lightstays on for 8 seconds.

i think your right about my tps, when mines on the ve was out of adjustment it kinda shift like that.

and i belive that the reasons the vg tranny are'nt as reliable as the ve trannys because the pan is upside down?
so it's possible the gear's, clutches, etc is getting "bathed" in the fluid...
correct if i'm wrong

meh, it's the chicago weather that is doing it.
I'd swap out the fluid for synthetic if you are truly concerned. I will likely be doing that to the subie next year before winter starts.

Yes but running through the whole diag needs the complete exercise - depress pedal & switch -dance. Most important: its totally free and wont hurt

I'd also clean all contacts, at TCU, above pan. My guess is that if solenoids (or wiring contacts) loose the game, shifting becomes jerky.

i guess so.
oh yea i did'nt do all of that.
i read what you had to do and i was like damn how come they could'nt do what they did with there engine ecm.

here's the vid's hopefully they work.
i took em with my cell phone so it's crappy.

this is how she shifts with 1/2 or less throttle open:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/m...e-2_157516.htm

this is how she shifts when floored, in power mode (well i did'nt really have her floored)

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/m...e-3_157517.htm

this is how she shifts in comfort floored (again was'nt really floored)

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/m...ive_157515.htm

now i MUST admit this baby is quick for 160hp/182tq!

even in comfort, the WOT shiftpoints are the same as power.

Exactly as i was saying, about 7/8th throttle the car goes into power mode no matter what, the switch is inneffective then. Why the swtich position seems to effect your shifts baffles me.

apparantly...
see thats weird though becuase on the 92 se confort the rpms would'nt raise as high.
power it'll raise near to the red line. Thats the same with this car.

It does have a line pressure solenoid valve that might have something to do with it....

but i have'nt heard any bad news so i'ma just leave it but do what brian suggested.
get some synthetic tranny fluid....and no cape i have'nt forgot about your tranny cooler.
