brake caliper question

I'm in the process of rebuilding the rear left caliper. What do you do with the brake line to get the caliper off? I see a bolt that holds it on, but I am thinking that once I take this one off, brake fluid will just start coming out. Is this right and what am I supposed to do to contain this?

Thanks

You will have to remove the hose. Not alot you can do to prevent leakage. You can either pinch the hose(not really recommended) or tie it to the strut w/ the open hose facing up. That will reduce leakage. Or you can just put the open hose end into a jar and just plan on doing a whole brake fluid flush. But IMHO, I wouldn't want a dry m/s to start out with though. What's wrong w/ the caliper? Sticking?

I have the same problem on my right rear. The parking brake is sticking. '97 with 65K miles. Have you done your rebuild? What could be sticking in the parking brake portion? Its mechanical and seperate from the main hyd part.

yeah, I did the rebuild and everything is fine now

I didn't rebuild the inside of the piston which the kit included parts for (I got the kit for www.courtesyparts.com). I just replaced the piston seal and main boot that goes around the piston and lubed everything up again. I was gonna do the rest if the problem didn't go away, but it was fine. You need LONG c-ring pliers to get the rings out of there and I didn't have one so I decided to leave that part alone
It wasn't the parking brake portion that was sticking, just the piston itself wouldn't retract all the way like it was supposed to.
Rebuild was easy and worth not having to buy another caliper
