Resornator

I just had my muffler installed to day and it sounds great not too loud and not too soft. But I cant hear it at high RPM's, it has a deep low soft tone to it in the low RPM range but when you get past 4,000 its like its not even on there. So I was wondering if I should have the resornator taken off. Has anyone on here done that? What does it sound like? Raspy?
Ill try to get a video clip up here soon.

did you only put a muffler on?? cat back? using stock y-pipe? what size muffler you put on? what size exhaust if not stock?

dont think it matters are far as your question goes, but is your car VG or VE?

i run full 2.5" exhaust from warpspeed. I have the resonator on there, its pretty big and barely fit in, but I have a nice deep tone throughout the rpm band. depends on gear and speed tho. nothing raspy about it. Its a bit loud but its not ricey at all. I like it

I think resornators are what rednecks use to make their trucks sound more....redneck. (joking, or course.)

by definition: A resonator is one part in exhaust systems that works with the muffler to reduce noise, by making sound waves "cancel each other out"[1]. The "exhaust note" is an important feature for many vehicle owners, so both the original manufacturers and the after-market suppliers use the resonator to enhance the sound.

I just put the Vibrant Performance muffler on using the stock y-pipe but I plan on getting the warpspeed y-pipe later. My car is a VG
Heres a video clip of the muffler. Its a cold start early in the morning.

haha I love how just before and after you hear the birds and the bees'

but that actually sounded 150% better than what I thought it would for being just a muffler replacement, (so far).

as far as you not being able to hear it at high rpm's. what conditions do you mean exactly?

When mine hits a sweet rpm/torque spot, the exhaust is at quietest.
when im doing 40mph and at cruise, basically auto is in OD and im barely touching throttle, its louder than it is when Im in third gear accelerating, specifically between 3-4.5k rpms. Or if Im getting onto an on ramp to freeway and just WOT from the get go, its loud all the way through, but not ricey

ive always noticed that when any motor is at a sweet spot for torque the exhaust is quietest. Not sure if this is a fact of how exhaust/motors work, but just seems that way to me.

BTW the Y-pipe upgrade is the most benificial for the $ and should give your car a bit of a deeper tone exhaust wise

when i was driving my parts car back home when i bought it, the exhaust was loud when accelerating, loud when coasting, and quiet when JUST BARELY touching the throttle. but as soon as you let go it got loud again. it had a broken-in-half-then-crudely-wrapped ypipe, so essentially, was open exhaust.
