Windshield wipers

So here's the issue.

the two arms that make the windshield wipers go (:X) keep coming detached.

I took out the little plastic part covering them many times and used a wrench of some sort to squeeze them back together, many times. They go for a few days but keep coming detached.

I looked at where they're supposed to connect, and it looks gunky and old... looks like whatever was bonding them just dried up.

My question is, how do i go about removing that crap? And then what do i use to re bond it?

Oh, and please pardon my lack of proper mechanical linguistics... I know what it is, I just don't know what it's called. meh.

A friend of mine was having the same problem and I'm sure I'll have it one day too. (I'm never selling my third gen) Anyway he hadda go to the dealer and buy a new piece. There is so many things that'll break tryin to get one off a junker it's not worth the time. Save a few pay checks and go to the dealer. LOL I prob just jinxed myself. Anyway I'm runnin one wiper in the middle to take the stress of my mech and motor.

I replaced the entire linkage and have never looked back. I got the entire linkage new from Courtesy pretty cheaply.

undo the nut that holds the arms on, and rotate the arms so they clear the hood. basically just above the black stripe at the bottom of the windshield.
It's what I had to do on one of mine, and stillman needs to do to his

if you install Trico wipers you have to rotate the arms too. it hangs off one side and into the seam of the windshield and HVAC intake cowl

i had that problem with mine awhile ago.. but i was able to just pop it back together.. one of the arms was bent on mine, which is why it kept popping off.. so i took the arm OUT and bent it back into shape.. then popped it back together..

and youre talking about the little half ball thing that pops in right? Well its not supposed to bond, cause it pivots..

try to bend it down alil, so it has some downward pressure.. (the arm that connects to the half ball mount thing)
