Actually, it decreases the drag coefficient a little, thus increasing fuel economy.

Actually, since spoilers add to the down force of a car, they'd have to increase the drag and therefore reduce the fuel economy. The spoiler is unnecessary weight on a sedan like ours (from a reality standpoint) and is just added surface area for wind to work its way around.

P.S.- It barely will reduce fuel economy, but yes, it will...

I took mine off and it seems to be the same, its all about how you drive the car, i can get between 450 and 500 out of a tank. How big is the tank anyway? is it a 55 or 60?

It also makes one drive more manly, causing rubber wear... On the other hand, maybe I have to keep up even more aggressively w/o the spoiler?

Why would FWD need more down force on rear wheels?

But it must be nice as my sons first mod for his stanza was a spoiler. Maybe it is.

Spoilers like ours are not designed to add downforce, they were designed to disrupt the flow of air away from the rear of the car, swirling air at the rear creates drag, the 3rd gen spoiler disrupts this swirl effect, thus lessening the drag coefficient.

On the other hand, a rear Wing like in nascar/nhra and several other rwd motorsports are designed to push rear of the car down.

Aero dynamics and drag coefficients are always interesting. Anyone see the Mythbusters episode where they show that trucks with tailgates up actually increases fuel economy? Just like Greeny said, it's all about the flow of air behind the vehicle.

The owners manual and FSM state 18.5 gallons, which is 70.030118 Liters. Though I've never personally been able to get this much in the tank. From almost completely empty so says the gauge (Below the Thick Line By The E) I have been able to get around 15-16 gallons in. Perhaps the gauge tells you ahead of time and keeps a 2 gallon reserve so you don't run out.

lolz: I stand corrected. while i have driven forever on E, I could still only manage 16g into the tank.

man I was jealous for a min, but then i realized youre talking KM, 450-500.. thats about.. 250 miles to a tank, correct??

i get about 300 miles to the tank, roughly.. was getting less when it was running bad. Maybe you have bad o2 sensors? I think they will suck gas, but go unnoticed as far as performance..
