Cabin Heater Control Valve Assembly (Wiki)

Wiki, got a question for you buddy:

REF. PAGE 8 YOUR NISSAN MAXIMA GUIDE - 748507_460_full.jpg (Assembly JPEG) -->VACUUM LINE FROM INTAKE 15. - HOSE CONTAINS SMALL ONE WAY VALVE

I Dropped this one way valve somewhere in the void, and I can't find it. When I go to replace hose 15. , can I do without this valve and just create 1 long hose from the intake to the assembly?

you're gonna need that valve. that valve is to maintain vac hold even when the engine is at a not-very-vacuumish condition (like WOT or off). i have a spare SOMEWHERE but i forget where i put it, so you may as well go to a JY and nab one.

OK cool - by the way is it a generic part or do I need Nissan OEM? It's just called a ONE WAY VALVE?

By the way are Gates Rad Hoses OK? The lower molded one I found was Michelin I think. Do they all meet the spec?

Which direction should I point replacement valve

ARROW POINTING AWAY FROM INTAKE

or

ARROW POINTING TO INTAKE

air should flow into the intake from the firewall side. if the arrow goes how i think it should, then the arrow would point at the intake. that way the intake can pull vacuum, and the one-way valve will hold it in place.
