New VTCs vs. Rebuilding VTCs

What is the opinion? I haven't done mine (NOT "mines"! grrrr) yet, but I wonder if 150K +/- of clattering doesn't wear or weaken the parts that you don't replace. I know rebuilding is MUCH less expensive, but I'm leaning toward **** on this one.

In my case, the firewall side has jumped a tooth or two (can hear it in the intake sound) and created a crack in the cam cover right over top of it. internetautomar thinks it has come apart... I haven't gone in yet... but will "soon".

I've got two VEs now... maybe I'll replace one set and rebuild the other for the clattering in the second one.

Well if it came apart then you have to rebuild the head, so I'd just focus on the good VE. Rebuild the VTCs and replace the chain tensioners.
