Do you still floor your 14-19yr old car?

I give mine a good right flogging daily, it can handle it.
As for burnouts n ****.
I do alot of those, but here in Aus, 'hoon' laws are getting harsher and harsher.
First offense can be loss of license, second offence can mean your vehicle being crushed under controlled conditions, third offense is usually permament loss of license (cant get license back, ever!). Police are really cracking down hard on burnouts, drifting, street racing, etc.

except, of course, when it's 2am, you just want to go to bed, and you can't find a parking spot

I sometimes will mash the pedal all the way down just for fun but i rarely let it see over 6,000rpm. Usually if i have it all the way down it gets to about 5500 and thats it. Like most people i just like the way it sounds

QFT! That's one of the reasons why I love going up to the Adirondacks every summer. There are some fun/scenic drives up there

i mean, I wasn't worried about us (the car handled great even with the wonky strut tower) i was just worried about how Mel felt.

these things aren't made of glass.... VG automatic transmission is, but the engines aren't. As pearl stated, running an engine at tiny loads all the time will lead to carbon buildup... flooring it helps to 'blow its nose' so to speak unless you really like disassembling everything to clean it periodically. Greeny as 335k on his VE, floors it as he pleases, and it runs like a champ, still. That's like only having gentle boring 'fun' with a really skinny gf b/c you're afraid you'll break her in half! Cmon let her have it! She can take it! She might even like it. She, the engine, I mean.

mine chirps 2nd sometimes... (works better if I go higher in 1st even tho i'll be past the powerband it'll shift-in closer to the sweet spot) it's a lil under the weather right now, seems like. I'll be doing an engine swap shortly though to alleviate the bent crank and putting in a good set of injectors (not new... but ohm'd the same). Unless I buy Goon's engine. We'll see.

It's a matter of personal choice. Different people set their priorities and preferences differently. Do what please us and we'll all be happy. There is no right or wrong for many things in our lives. As most of us get older, we tend to be more gentle on our throttles.

Indeed it is one's choice to floor it or not, but if you choose to be a little gentler on the throttle than the rest of the traffic, please do everyone a favor and do it in the right lane . I used to live in Richmond and found that Richmonders have a nasty habbit of going 10 under in the left lane, with a car in the lane next to them doing the same thing. I have no problem if you want to go slow in the right lane, but don't create a traffic jam for no reason (rolling roadblock ftl). I didn't notice how bad it was until I moved to DC...people up here will ride your tail until you get out of the way, to the point that you don't see their front grill anymore

Good suggestion for safety reason. But not to floor the pedal doesn't always equate driving slowly and blocking other traffic. I know your point, though. I also have a 2004 and 2009 Camry, both 4 cyl engines. With these 2 Toyota, I have to apply more throttle to move the car in decent manner from a red light. The extra torque provided by our Maxima is an advantage. Well, I can't really complain about Toyota, they both give me 4-5 higher MPG than my Maxima on my regular route to work.

I floor mine all the time i have been trying to blow the transmission so i have an excuse to 5 speed swap it but it hasnt blown yet even though it has 211k miles and fetal flakes in the transmission fluid but it doesnt even slip once
