What other make has your car been mistaken for?

Ever wanna tap the minds of those non-car people? What have those aunts, coworkers, dates, etc thought your Maxima was?

Here's my list
1. Camry, verry common
2. Acura, fine with me
3. Sentra/Altima- name confusion
4. Passat- this person was drunk

actually I don't think anyone's ever really confused it for any other car... they just simply had NO CLUE whatsoever what it was because apparently they remember the 2nd gen and then their memory skips straight to the 4th gen.

Piece of **** grandma car (From the owner of a 93' Civic DX with no exhaust I ended up raping in a race later that day)

Toyota Camry (Friends little brother)
Nissan Altima (Person at a gas station)
Nissan Stanza (Guy in Traffic)
Volvo (Friends mom)
Volkswagen Passat (Same friends mom)
Acura Legend (Friend of a friend)

And of course the random, "What the hell is that thing?" in traffic after I ran neck and neck with my little brother's friend's dad's Hemi Magnum.

One time I had "CAMRY" printed on my side of the timeslip during a bracket race. People now think that Camrys are fast.

yeah, that is the truth.

It sucks that I don't see many other 3rd gens out there. I seem to spot a lot more 2nd gens and of course, loads of 4th gens.

Same here, there are a few 3rd gen's around but they're all run down to hell. I did catch a 89-91 Pearl VG SE in traffic one time on some aftermarket wheels and eibach's (or blown struts ) We gave each other the thumbs up since it's so rare you see one that's taken care of. My older sister called me a dork

If someone by chance does recognize the car though it seems they really appreciate it. (An E36 Owner and a pizza delivery guy telling me how cool they were when he was in highschool)

I actually never had the misfortune of my 3rd gen being mistaken for another brand/model car. Most times i get the comment " Is this a maxima?" Me: Yeah it is, a very old one, "looks nothing like a maxima"..

I've even had people pull up next to me at a light and just grill the heck outta the car. Thats where i just roll up the windows and keep looking str8 ahead and wait for the moment to speed off ....lol...

Most people are really surprised to hear when I say mine is a 92. They expected mid/late 90s.

And they are really surprised to see that it runs 12s. :cough: Ran 12s.

My mom always calls it an Altima and then quickly corrects herself with Maxima. Once I pulled up to a corner food mart and some kid that looked like a Crystal Meth user of some kind came up to me right after I got out. I quickly assumed he was going to ask me for money, but even better he kept saying..no way...no way..dude is that a skyline? I said no. And he said yeah it totally looks like one though huh? I just said sure. Am I the only one who has ever mistaken the front end of a Cadillac for a 3rd Gen? There's been a few times I've only been able to see the front fender from the side, and I'm not sure what model Cadillac it is but I think it's a Maxima untill I can see the rest of the car. I guess it's the corner lights.

i've never gotten sentra.... tho the 3g max is shorter, narrower, and lower than a 2009 Sentra is......

oh and btw [.IMG]url[/IMG] minus the period, not <img src="http://forums.maxima.org/3rd-generation-maxima-1989-1994/">. just click the square w/ the mountains in it and paste the URL.. it'll do the work for ya
