I had dreams to take my maxima to the track. Lime rock The glen and VIR. I was wondering if anyone made there maxima in to a great handle fun track car.
quite a few people have done it with pretty good results
aaron92se, for example
info on his car w/ timeslips

unfortunately, the motor finally died on a grocery-getting run...

Aaron's car ran something like a 12.95 that day (crappy track prep) and my best is there on the timeslip. i put the wrong video up of his car tho... he was still dialing in the nitrous, so on that one it backfired and he had to lift. if i ever find where i have the original files i'll put the right one up instead.

I was talking more of a road course track. I know 3rd gens can go fast in a striaght line at a drag strip. i used to drag my ve and my best friend has a
3rd gen with a jdm Cedric or Gloria engine vg30et fully built top to bottom and a with a ball bearing gt35 turbo. that thing properly tuned will be a monster. its only been driven once untuned then he was shipped out (military) and now its been sitting for a year waiting for some wiring and tuning. anyways a little off subject

this quote should answer your question!

Was playing with an E34 M5 in traffic the other day and he gave me the thumbs up, oh how envious I was of his pearl warrior; it felt like a "Daniel son" moment.
Anyway, once I get my cars transmission swap and suspension work done I'd like to go play around at the track, just to see how she does, but as everyone's already mentioned Matt93SE aka Blehmco is the VE trackmastah around here.

It was imported a few years ago. I was into the hole my cars faster than yours when i owned my 3rd gen. not saying i don't every drag race anymore, i do. I even was able to max my m5's top speed on a private airstrip which was 180+
Then after i went to a road course event for the first time i found out real quick straight line power is not everything. i hope everytime i go to a event i will see a 3rd gen or even a maxima. if you ever get the chance to sign up to drive ur car on a road course i say go for it. you will be a better driver. Matt93se is def a hardcore 3rd gen guy. nice to here he useing his 4dsc

I used to track mine on a regular basis.... until I blew the engine at the track..

at the same time, I had an S14 that I'd bought on the cheap and put an engine in- was planning on flipping it for some cash... Since the Max was down, I needed something to drive so I talked the wife into letting me keep it. eventually I rebuilt the engine in the Max and it's the DD while the 240 is the track toy. My lap times are still faster in the Maxima due to the additional power, but the 240 is more fun to drive and MUCH easier on tires and brakes.
It's still there.. My stupid webhost decided to "secure" my site for me and kill indexing for every single subdirectory. I changed a bunch of them back, but forgot that one.

on my track toy i have modified my oil pan wwith baffles to insure the oil pump pick-up is always submerged in oil. (hard cornering). i also run with no less than a half tank of gas to protect the engine from running lean under hard cornering. I cant afford a kaaboomOriginally Posted by Matt93SE

My engine death was caused by one of the connecting rods actually coming apart. One nut was laying in the bottom of the oil pan and the rod bolt was shoved up from the bottom and mashed into the side of the rod.Originally Posted by JDwyer2821

After the rebuild, I installed an oil pressure gauge and have noticed that I have to have at least 4 1/2 quarts of oil to keep pressure from fluctuating under hard cornering. I'm wondering if baffling would be necessary for a road-raced Maxima, but I don't know if anyone is really going to go that crazy with a 15 yr old car.
With fuel, I have to have at least 1/3 tank to keep from losing pressure under hard left turns, so I'd always fill up about 3/8 or so.
