It's probably burnt out dude. Unless of course the bundle of wires was chopped like mine was when I got it.

get some 12" white Cold Cathode tubes and wire them up instead. it'll be a LOT brighter. assuming the bulb is just burned out.

Think a fluorescent light tube will hold up in there? I have a spare one layin' around from the reptile days that I might wire up.

I just wired up my trunk today with a neon bar its a little LED though but to wire it from the sub use the amp wire that runs to that batter/the power cable then for it to only cut on with when the trunk is opened pull back that cover or just cut the wire that runs to the trunk light and my wire was pink u might see like 4 wires but its either ur pink wire if urs is pink also or the black wire that runs to that trunk latch ill take pix 2marrow to show u what im talking about and mine works just fine only thing is that damn light is not bright enough i dont know why tho maybe because it was a $9 light lol and its little so yeah word of advice if ur gonna get a tube it a good one that u know will put out a good bit of light...

go for it. i'm either gonna use a trio of 8W fluorsecent tubes, or some 12" cold cathode tubes. i plan to just put a relay on the wires for the stock trunk light, and let the switch portion just draw a line off the battery, cuz i'm not sure how much current is safe to pull through the stock wiring for the bulb.

what is the wattage on that? the stock one is what, 8W? something like 20W would be adequate.. but you'll still get the most lumens per watt with either fluorescent or cold cathode.

Back in the day I installed a spare fog-light with an on/off switch in the trunk, which provided superb lighting back there. I wish I could find the pictures.

factory trunk bulb is rated at 3.4W at 12 volts = 0.28 Amps

and i replaced it with 12W bulb at 12 volts = 1 Amp

and it wouldnt hurt to pull a lil more amps through stock trunk lamp wiring...

I did the same thing a few years back, a pair of cold cathodes. It's actually a lot brighter than the pic shows.

Now that I look at that picture...I wonder why the hell I had a lightbulb in my trunk.

find a 12v source (radio is a good start, you have a choice of constant power, and power when ign is in acc or on). find a place to mount the switch. mount bulbs and inverter w/ double sided tape (included). hook up connectors, test, enjoy pissing yourself off at night because you cant find/reacht the switch, and are blinfed by the bright *** lights under your dash.
(note: colored wire that goes to computer power is positive, black is negative)

These Cold Cathode wont be needing any resistors right? cause the Input voltage of the inverter is 12v right?

Correct, they run off of +12VDC from a computer power supply.

if you wire it into the socket for the original bulb then that won't be an issue anyways

The cold cathode tubes that i have are not lighting up anymore but i did unhook the wires and just tried to run the wires str8 to the tube itself without the little black box that came with the set is that box suppose to be hooked up to control the amount of power going to the light?

That's not so much a power regulator as an inverter. You can't run straight DC power to the tube. Why the hell would you remove the inverter? What did you think it was, an 'extra part'?
