You probably need a new speed sensor since both your speedo and odometer went out. It's located on top of the transmission next to the oil filter.

If your speedo works but your odometer doesn't I would rule out your speed sensor. It is most likely the solder connections around the micro that drives the odometer. You could try resoldering the connections or get a replacement cluster or individual unit that houses the odometer.

how much would a new speedo be? just the speedo as the rest of my guages and everything work. the speedo cuts out someimtes and it gets really annoying.

I purchased mine from the wreckers and has worked no problems. Cost me about $100. My Nissan dealer wanted to sell me the whole cluster for about $700 (ex-Japan) ! Bugger that.
