IS THERE A SAFETY RELAY IN THE TRUCK AREA FOR THE ENGINE COMPUTER, THE BOOKS I HAVE TELL ME THERE SHOULD BE ONE, I CAN NOT FIND ONE IN MY 1992 MAX SE. ANY HELP

 

There should be. It's a relay that cuts off power to the fuel pump in an accident. Should be in the trunk area. You might have to dig under the carpet or around the center tailight areas.

Advice. don't use all caps. It's quite irritating.

 

I thought I saw in the FSM that the fuel pump cutoff switch was on the inside of the firewall, just to the passenger side of center. Maybe I'm confusing it with another relay, though. Will check tonight.

 

there are 2 relays in the trunk - safety relay and fuel pump relay

you will have to take off the trunk liner that goes on the backside of the taillights and all the way across to the other taillight

first remove the screws holding the plastic piece on that goes across the bottom lip, then pop out all the trim fasteners (little buttons looking things) and pull the liner out

you will see the relays on the drivers side just inside the taillight assembly
