3rd gen turbo build
Finally after 15 posts I can start me a thread. This is a rapid build that I'm doing right now and putting all my time in it. Once completed its going up for sale so pm me if interested.
1st I started with a 90 se 5 spd that was totally fubar.

I then bought a 94 gxe for $300 and drove it 4 hours home with a supposed slipping trans but I had no problems but a slight miss under light accel.
Due to the non stop spring time rain work has been slow and wet. !st thing I did was go ahead and swap the interior from the tan color to black.
every thing tan was taken out. All the way down to the seat belts. I re wrapped the head liner and upper trim pieces in black vinyl and I then went ahead and swapped out the tails and spoiler.

I've already ruffed in the intercooler.
As soon as he rain stops I've got to replace the lower core support and prep/paint the engine bay flat black. Ive already started the wire tuck and some parts deleted(ac,egr, cruise,ac,ect).

windshield washer res and overflow might goe in the trunk with the battery since they're in the way of intercooler piping.
Due to the rain I've been stuck in the garage so I got the motor just about complete
5spd
Grand national turbo
Mod list so far.
W series block and heads
nistune
z32 tt injectors
walboro 255
aero fpr
custom y pipe 2 1/2" off each bank flowing into 3" to turbo
3" down pipe
3" straight exhaust out back no mufllers or cat
Garrett t3/t04 .63 turbine with t04b compressor internally gated
31" x 11" x 3" intercooler 3" in and out
dxd south bend stage 3 clutch
I'm starting to think that I'm going to make to much power for the 5 spd. Right now I should make a little over 300 horses. I could easily upgrade my injectors to some 555's or 880's and make some serious power but it would be an over kill. I can picture the trans right now.
more to come!

lol @ the exploding strut in the SE. really nice to see someone with what looks like quite a bit of experience w/ VGET's and you're definitely moving along at a quick pace. wanna keep track of the $$ you put into the car just to see how much "bang" you get for your buck?

Anything not structural or really bad with rust will just get a por 15 treatment before paint. Yea, this was all started from Ben. His brother bought the AE Z off of me and he asked if I was interested in the maxima 6 months ago. I didn't have anything going on a couple weeks ago so I just bought it to get me by. On the way home I knew that it was going to be more work than I wanted. Everything onthe car was crap. I ended up not useing alot of bens car because everything was just wore out. The turbo, injectors, fpr, 5spd , tails, spoiler, and interior is all I used. A lot less than originally planned. I've got to build a new y-pipe because Bens was very poorly made with poor welds. He also was running 2 1/2" exhaust but its to small for a boosted vg thats internally gated. I have an hx35w but the G/N turbo is enough so I'm going to save it for something else. Right now Its still raining so progress is really slow.

Not to burst your bubble but with that turbo going to be hard to make over 300hp. My 89 max using a to4e running 8psi probably only around 250hp. I went to 550cc on my 91 but im also running a holset he351 and 18psi. Not dynoed yet but sure its around 400 and tranny is holding so far.

And dang that rust is outrageous.
I thought my car was bad, it's got rust in front of the rear wheel wells (well, on just one side since I repaired the other), but there's no sign of rust anywhere inside the cabin.

I'm sure this turbo is good for 15 #'s at least if not I have a couple Z turbos laying around that I know will get an efficent 15. I have a fresh holset I could also drop on there but I'm planning on selling the car as soon as its done and planned on useing it on my turbo Z. Really the only thing holding me back would be my injectors/turbo.The next owner will just have to upgrade the injectorsthrow on a holset and dload a new tune. Simple.....Well for some anyways.

After looking at a 300zx overflow tank(tall and skinny) I might be able to squeeze it in somewhere. I'm probably going to run the 300z windshield washer res also because its smaller and doesn't have a long *** neck.

True that man ive never seen so many beautiful 3rd gens in my life! Alot more people are venturing into the turbo world and putting great setups on their 3rd gens, That is Awsome! I know that most of the 3rd gen owners would rather turbo a VE but im glad to see some of you are just making due with the VG and coming up with some very impressive numbers...Keep up the good work guys maybe one day i might turbo mine...

very impressive work, damn wish i had that much time to actually turbo mine already. i've been sleeping on this project for awhile now and the turbo and manifolds have been sitting in my garage for over a year. but im still debating to swap in a 3.5 VQ like Aaron is doing on his 3rd gen or just turbo my VG or swap the VQ and turbo that one??? so many choices, so little money and time. i need a new job. but keep up the good work and post a video if you can when done. i would like to hear that motor running.

mig time 35/hr
tig time 45/hr
If you cut it and its pretty much prepped(deburred)and all I have to do is weld it its $45 dollars. I've got an extra that I could cut, clean, and weld for $75 shipped.

Engine is done so I go to start it up and nothing. All I get is fuel pump cycling and my headlights. Everything else is dead. I'm getting power to relay and fuse box. When I did the swap I also swapped the engine bay harness for the manual trans.. By the ecu there was an extra plug in the gxe that the se harness didn't have and I figured it was for the airbag setup so I'm hoping that this is the problem. Anyone else have this problem or does everyone just use the autotrans harness? Well anyways heres the finished engine bay. Its pretty much finished besides swapping out a few clamps that I'm waiting for. Also just bought some new 18's and paint prep will begin as soon as the rain subsides.

wow, thats weird it wouldn't start. did you plug in all the necessary connections for the clutch neutral safety switch and the ASCD if you are using that. but other than that i am impressed with the amount of work you have put into it in a short time and still keep it looking clean and not messy with running a crap load of wires like i have seen in other turbo setups.
so yeah it looks a bit "cleaner" b/c it's missing stuff.
