Nice. Don't care for the spaced rim bolts on the lip. I am getting these...
http://www.whalentire.com/wheeldetai...51442S&size=17

with a 235/45/17 they will be the same weight as the stock 15" setup. 38lbs.

Isn't that too much offset? I thought since Mustang wheels are 30mm and there's not too much room to the strut in that case, getting 15mm closer was too much? At least this is what I gather from various bits of info I've gathered.

Have you test fit it (somehow)?

(Actually the Flatline at 40mm sounds too high too)

Yes/No?

Anything between 35-42mm should be ok. If anyone knows more about this feel free to correct me

Umm.... I know I'm the "new" guy around here, but I always thought offset was this:
http://www.whalentire.com/faqs.cfm#offset

...and that it was a "universal" figure independant from wheel width, unlike backspacing. So fitment of 235 width tires should be identical on a 6" or 8" rim if they both have the same offset.

Please don't flame me, my concern is only for my fellow Max owner - I don't want to see someone spend their hard-earned cash on rims that don't fit. I've tried my best to collect reliable information on this topic both here and the BBS, and came to the conclusion that a 30-35mm offset rim is the way to go. Some of my info came from yourself, as well as Jeff92SE, and a few other people too. Maybe Jeff can give some input if he's reading?

you know what! I totally misread that webpage, let me be the first to admit that I was so far off the mark that I might as well have shot my foot! Lets re-think all of this!.......

Even though I totaly messed it up the first time let me show you how it really is!

"Offset is the measurement of the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface. AS offset gets higher the wheel will move further back under the fender of the vehicle."

OK, 17X7.5" rim has a 45mm offset. so 7.5" / 2 = 3.75".
3.75" represents each side of the invisible center line of that wheel.
OK, 45mm = 1.77" offset, add that to 3.75" and you get the back spacing of 5.52" with a 1.97" front spacing 1.97+5.52 = 7.5" width.

Lets try a 35mmoffset on a 17X8 wheel.
8" / 2 = 4" on either side of the invisible centerline of that wheel.
4" + 35mm(1.37") = 5.37" back spacing. a 2.63" front spacing 2.63+5.37 = 8" width.

Either wheel will work since it is way aheada of the 6.5" maximum back spacing. You would not want anything like 55mm offset then.
So glad some actually read the text on that site.

Notice the .66" difference in the differnt wheels / widths. That equates to more clearance on the fender side.

Bman, hats off to you. The wheels would have fit reguardless of my FALSE info, Good thing you pointed it out. I'm going to erase that info so no one uses it!! THANK YOU Bman.
Three cheers for Bman!

Just did some measuring too.....
The rear fender can take no mor than a 2" frontal spaced wheel, so a 17X8 with a 35mm offset will rub on the rear fender lip. The lip is 1" wide. A 17X8 wheel with a 35mm offset has a 5.37" back spacing, which is fine, the maximum is 6.5"; that same wheel has a 2.63" font spacing, which means a MAXIMA 3rd gen with INTRAX or Sprints would rub the fender. My 17X8 rubbed a little after I went from EIBACHS 1" low, to INTRAX 1.75"low. So the 17X7.5" with a 45mm offset will work great! It will clear the fender by .03"haha!, and has a back spacing of 5.52" a whole inch of room ot play. You might still have to roll the fender just to be sure. When I order my wheels I'll do all the measurements again and tell my findings.
God Bless.

7" / 2 = 3.5"
3.5" + 1.57"(40mm) = 5.07" back spacing
5.07" - 7" = 1.93"

You'll have a 1.43" clearance on the back and .07" on the front. sounds good to me.
