'02 rims fit a '94 max?
'02 rims fit a '94 max?
Could someone tell me if the wheels off of my friends '02 maxima fit on my '94 maxima? They are 17" wheels with 5 spoke. The tires that are on it are 225/50/17. I was also wondering if any other tire size (225/55/17) would be OK to replace these. thanks truemax
They'll fit 100% fine. FYI, any '89-'09 rims are interchangeable. You can basically grab rims from any gen and they'll fit fine. Also, 225/55 would be fine to replace the tires with. Personally I would go 235/50 but that's just me.
EDIT: 235/50 for anything but a 3rd gen because of the rubbing issue.

225/50 is the optimal size. The diameter is extremely close to stock, so it won't offset your speedometer noticeably. I think it is about a 1.5mph difference at 60mph. 225/55 will increase this variance. You don't want to run 235 tires because as it is, when I turn my steering wheel all the way to one side, the tire rubs.
Also, I am still running drums in back, the disc assemblies will go on one day, but anyway:
there was a little bit of tire rub on the rear struts when I first put the wheels and tires on. (235 tires will only make this worse). I added some wheel spacers (I forget which size off the top of my head). When you do that it is a good idea to add longer wheel studs to compensate for the length the the lugs have to grab on to which will be lost. I ran with stock size studs for awhile, but it isn't the safest thing to do. My advice to you is add longer studs from the get-go.
