D.I.Y. HAI questions
D.I.Y. HAI questions
Im going to go get a cone filter soon for my 91, but I had some quick questions about connecting it to the MAF.
Is there any kind of adapter or bracket that I could purchase from maybe an auto store or hardware store that could connect to the maf that would have some type of end on it that I would be able to stick the filter on?
And Ive heard some negative points about HAI, but is there any way to make the stock air box more efficient? I was going to remove the pipe after the box that stops near the headlight, but i didnt know if that was a good idea, and I couldnt figure out how to get those screws off that hold it down to the frame...
Edit: And before someone comes in here telling me to use the SEARCH; I did, and all that stuff was from years ago and I couldnt find a how-to.

Yea the HTP billet adapter... I dont really need a fancy schmancy adapter. Just need something to work
Not sure about the VG, but on the VE, if you're willing to hack up your stock airbox, that has pretty much a built-in MAF adapter itself. You have to bend the inside flair flat, but it works, and it's free. I did this about 10 years ago on my original VE for my first DIY intake

I aint even gonna lie, im 18, and if i dont find a cheap(er) adapter i may just go that route lol
I installed my cone filter on my maxima without an adapter. i bought one thinking that I needed it, and took it back to the store. I just basically unscrewd the maf from the box and straighted out the ends of it to fit over or into the cone filter ends. Put the clamp on there til it was tight, and connect it back to the car. Gives the car a deep throaty sound. Something like a Pontiac Grand Prix sound, around 2500 rpms.
