Driving my VE again..

Hey guys, it's been awhile. Planning on getting my VE back in motion in the upcoming weeks, and selling my BMW. The 3rd gen just keeps calling. More reliable and cheaper to upkeep. Better fuel economy as well. Just wondering about a few things.. The last time I changed the oil on it was in September of 07' with Castrol GTX. Since then I added about half a quart. The car has been outside for most of the duration, except for this winter, it stayed garaged, but not started. All other times it was started 3-4 times a month when it was outside. Still starts right up and runs like it did before with a mild VTC tick and a gentle sputter here and there. Funny how people always keep telling me it's the lifters. Drove it home from where my job was 3 miles without any mishaps as well. Anyway, you guys think I decreased the reliability of this car greatly, for it not being driven for a year and a half now and me not changing the oil? Oil still looks good and smells fine. Wouldn't be surprised if theres plenty of water in there now from condensation and stuff. Thanks.

Edit: Oh and Im at 162k miles incase anybody wondered.

I would highly doubt you did any damage at all. I'd be more worried about stagnant gas than the oil. I haven't driven my Civic in months but I have been starting it up every couple weeks, and just the other day went ahead and and changed the oil. Why don't you just go ahead and change it anyway?

Also, good job on driving it again. Good to see you back around. I hardly drove my VE at all for nearly a year or two and just a few months ago fell back in love with it, plus bought another

i would just change the oil a little bit more often the first 2 or 3 changes, to help get rid of as much of the remnant oil cycled out (the oil that never quite completely drains out when you do an oil change).

what year/model bimmer do you have anyways?

Get some engine flush (lube guard or something like that) put it in engine, run the engine for 10 mins and change the oil...if not enough but will help some tho...

Change oil then take her for a long road trip to get the engine really warmed up ot help burn off some of the oil that you don't see.

Good to see your still into VEs as well. Most people who have their 3rd gens modded like yours usually move on, but you go and buy another. Props

I don't know if I should be worried about that stagnant gas too much though, since I did put a few bucks worth of gas in her every few months. I just hope it was enough for the fuel pump. What are your plans for the new VE?

Will do

It's a 03' 330xi auto with 126k miles with a non working AC in which case the whole dash has to come off from what mechanics tell me, the sunroof shade clips broke, and the suspension needs some serious maintenance. You or anyone interested lemme know.
