I'm not so sure you can get one anymore, honestly, unless somebody still has the mold and would make you one. I'm sure they'd charge you $700+ though

Back about 2003, when the 3rd gen "community" here was still thriving, it took us quite a bit of effort even then to beg/prod Fiber Images to build hoods for us through a group deal. I had one of the original 10 hoods, but it started to crap out after about a year or so and I sold it. Your best bet would probably be to find a used one somehow, although if it's one of the original ones I'd bet it's pretty jacked up by now unless it sat in a shaded garage this whole time

damn i miss those hoods, James didn't know you had one back in the day?

drifter_240sx: it will be harder now as what James said, for you to come across a good C/F hood for the 3rd gen. and even if you do find someone that has the mold they will charge you an arm and a leg. good luck on the search.

Fiber Images will still make one for you, but the price will be over $700. I think they do not sell directly to the public, so you have to find a dealer.

yep, slim chances on finding one unless its custom. they really only make CF hoods for older cars that are still popular like 240sx

you may wanna go back to 240s, then, for performance. a 3rd gen is fun, but you will spend half as much on two 240's, already modded, and fun on a track, than you would to make a single maxima semi-fun.
not saying a maxima can't be modded, it's just not cost effective, fun to $ ratio.

troof... they DO make great family/dd cars tho, and they will impress most people in that sense (ie, they outperform MOST other family cars in their age/class group).. just don't expect it to compete against or feel like a comparably-sized/powered rwd/awd vehicle and you won't be disappointed.

well when you have that much power, anything will be fast... it's just a matter of how much money you have to spend to get there by modifying an older slower car vs starting with a car that was already fast-ish to start with. but if the total cost of your car + all mods is less than the price of say a 5-year-old TL or some-such, then you are ahead of the game.

if shipping wouldnt be so expensive i would definitely go in on a group buy

gotta agree that 240sx are a more fun car though, they have a sick body design and when you watch people rip those things down the touge in Japan its amazing

I have a Fiber Images hood that's brand new, never installed. It's in my basement waiting for a clear coat before I actually start using it. I'm willing to put money on that it's the last one in existence that's brand new.

How much would YOU pay for it?

Oh yeah.... be jealous. Get ready for a wicked paint job on that hood, too.

And no... I have nothing valuable to add to this thread.

Maximusve92 (something like that) is selling his '92 SE in the for sale forum. Says he has a CF hood on it. Maybe if one of you guys pony up enough dough he'll part with it..

When I got mine (3 years ago) there was a place in Indiana named Alter Ego Performance that was a dealer. They aren't around now. The list was $525 and the shipping ran about $180.

I had to go to Fiber Images website and they had a list of dealers.

Yep, that's definitely a good idea. I know all these CF hood makers claim they have clearcoat on them but I think they're all just lying and it's merely just the resin. I know mine was just straight clear resin.

BTW, where you been d00d!

Don't bother, they won't return a message anyway. They strictly deal thru vendors, not direct.
