power steering fluid vs transmission fluid

ive had a small leak in one my tie rods and i have been refilling the power steering fluid with lucas power steering fluid.... now ive had the steering system worked on twice and both times it was drained and refilled with p/s fluid......... ive been reading some old threads about how nissan made some kind of recommendation to use tranny fluid instead of any kind of power steering fluid so is this true and more importantly is there any specific kind of tranny fluid to use........ ive still got some valvoline tranny fluid left over from a drain that i could use but all these old posts reccomend things like dexron

so should i start using tranny fluid instead of p/s fluid and if so is it important what kind?

.............

it's not a recommendation to use Dexron-III ATF. it's a requirement

congratulations on destroying your steering system due to ignorance

Wow I never knew that you had to use transmission fluid, because I always use powersteering fluid. Recently it got down real low, and I added more. It seems to get low like every 2 months or so.
