NO I DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i moved the ball DOWN!!!!! that changed the leverage ratio. THEN i chopped some of the stick off. Moving the ball UP makes the swing angle really small to shorten shifts. Mine has a larger swing angle but still shorter throws.

I, too, put mine in the oven and moved the ball down over three years ago...Still works great and it was free! There is no difference between what I did and an aftermarket STS, only the position of the ball differs.

It is still very tall, the throws are just shorter. If you want to go all-out, move the ball and then cut an inch or so out of the middle of the shift rod and weld it back together.

don't like to cut and weld but as long as its shorter than stock i'll be happy.

then do a big ol' S-bend like the mustang shifters had. that'll shorten the height and move it closer to you. My sts causes me to have to lean forward AND lock my elbow to get into 5th gear. It gets kinda tiresome after a while, and i sometimes miss shifts simply due to laziness (ie not feeling like leaning forward)

this is what i REALLY wanted... but i don't have anything to bend it with.:

a torch, a bench vise, and a good long pipe or box end wrench, just dont slip and hit the red spot. sand and paint to finish. i planon doing this so if wanted i will take pics when done.

one question why would you want to move the ball down that would lengthen the shift wouldn't it or is my thinking that far off
