Did i have the wrond tire size
Were my tires the wrong size? I had 265/50-15 now im putting on 205/65-15. Were the old tires wrong, like did they screw up my speedometer or tell me i was going faster or slower? Not really that important, just wondering.

those tires were waaaay too wide, but the overall diameter was okay. your speedo would have been very close between either tire.
BUT.. the 165 tire was 10.5" wide, mounted on a 6.5" rim.. tha's not good. stock tires (205/65/15) are 8" wide.

I was going to wonder if there even was such an animal as a 265/50 tire (265 sounds like an odd size) but a quick check at Tirerack said yes.
I think Matt is worried about the fact that you've got tires that that are mounted on rims that are far too narrow for it, and frankly so am I. The approved rim width range is 7.5 - 10 inches. Didn't someone at some point (salesman, shop guy) warn you about the rim cutting the sidewall or the tire bead rolling off the rim? These were some of the warnings I'd heard about this kinda thing. Those tires must bulge out like a ****!
Just some FYI that wider isn't always better - there's a limit. Tires that bulge out too much because the rim is on the narrow side won't handle at their best because the sidewall rolls around too much. That's why Maximum5spd was expecting a 15x9 size rim.
But you're replacing them anyway so what the heck... If you want to go wide on your stock rims try 225/60 R15. That's really close to stock diameter and will work okay with your rims. Probably won't rub at all either. Happy driving![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
