Rear Defroster Question

Only a few lines work in my rear defroster. I checked for breaks and didn't see any. I got a test light and all the lines light up on the driver side. On the passenger side none of them light up. I checked the wiring on the driver side and it lights up where it connects to the glass but the passenger side does not. The fuses are good. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad ground connection. Check the wire going from the passenger side of the rear window to the body ground. May be corrorded or broken off. Happened to me.

I should have read your original more carefully. Seems that you have some lines working. Well ultimately the ones that are not working have a break somewhere so you're gonna have to look VERY CAREFULLY.

Just in case, the few of the lines on the top is an antenna so ignore those.

yeah but the weird thing is that all the lines have power on the driver side, none on the passenger side and 3 random lines clear though.

No, its not weird. That's the way electrical stuff measures. The power (voltage) is on one side so you will read 12 volts. The other side is connected to ground so you will read 0 volts. If you unplug the ground wire, then you will read 12 volts on both sides.

Since the heating wires are all connected in parallel to the same electrical point on each side, you can't use voltage as a test. You have broken lines in the defroster and you will have to find them visually. Maybe a magnifying glass will help.
