My Front Passenger Window is Controlled by a Ghost

Get how insane this is -

I'm driving 10 minutes ago, it's FREEZING out, like -10. The bloody window starts going down ON IT'S OWN!!!! Has anyone heard of this? It's crazy. I had to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the drivers side pad to control that passenger window by holding the button in the UP position, or it would keep going down.

I got a strange symptom on NYE, when my idiot friend was yelling at girls out the window, I put on that child lock thing on the drivers side so he couldn't control the window. Then later, while I was driving I removed it. Then sporadically when I would start the car that passenger side window would start to go down on it's own. So I put the child lock thing ON so it stopped it from going down. It worked for a day. Then today, child lock thing was on, and the thing started going down on it's own...like it was possessed.

Welcome to the joys of 3rd gen ownership. You need to replace your master window switch. The window will not work at all on Sunny nice days, but the minute it gets cold or starts raining/snowing, down it comes. :-P

haha, we just finished our -20 snap, waiting for it to get to -25 and that still isn't even that cold.

but about the window, i've never heard of that before. Maybe the switch is getting stuck in the down pos. on the pass. door? does it always start rolling down now the second you turn on the car or is it intermittent?

Thanks guys, i'll check those things out. Garf, the window was going down inermittently maybe 15 minutes after I started driving, lately. But last time I drove it didn't go down.

It's weird, i'll check it out. Could it be something to do with the cold?

I have a 1993 Maxima SE that has the same ghost in the window. Were you ever able to resolve the problem and if so, what's the solution.

Thank you for your time.

Did you actually read the thread? master window switch on the driver side is the usual culprit.
