Thanks Craig.
Those wheel sprices are great. a 235/45/17 with any Mustang 17" from 94-2002 will put you in the 46lb per tire/wheel. Stock 15"+ tires = 38lbs.
So you'll add 24 lbs of unsprung weight. Looks great and not a bad compromise.
My suggestion is to get a Stang Wheel that does not say anything on it like.."mustang" or "SVT". My favorite are the 99/01 SVT COBRA wheels. The caps can be painted to match the car, and they look sharp.

24 lbs of unsprung per wheel!! 96 lbs total, that has a similar effect as adding 400 lbs in the car. Handling and acceleration and fuel milage will certainly suffer. I had some cast Alum rims from KMC that added about 15 lbs per wheel. I didn't realize it because I had them on the car since I bought it, but when I switched back to the stock SE wheels and tires, I was amazed at the increased acceleration and handling. In comparison, it felt like my car had a load of bricks
in its butt! That is just my experience. Depending on how you drive, you may not notice. But you might at the gas pumps.

Unless you shell out mega bucks for light alum wheels. This is a very typical wheel weight for 17x8. These are also very, very tough wheels as must oem applications are. About 2x as tough as your typical aftermarket cheapie 17s

As an added note, some lightweight forged AL wheels on the market (Volk, Racing Hart..) weigh less than 14 lbs. Some weigh 11lbs in 15in form. Something to consider. Anyone know how much stock SE wheels weigh??

1 stock wheel/tire weighs 38lbs, a 17X8 with tire weighs 46. That is a difference of 8lbs each X 4 = 32lbs, I stand corrected, not 32lbs X 4 but 32lbs total. read carefully.

Again 32lbs total, all four wheels and tires will add 32lbs to your car. not 128lbs. EEH.

Oh, I see. True about the pricey AL wheels, they bend pretty easily. But don't some of those 'stang wheel go similar prices? Especially new ones?

All I know is the local crooks... umm, I mean "auto recyclers" want the equivalent of $140-150 US each for 17x8 Mustang take offs!!! I can buy BRAND NEW ones from the local Motorsports dealer for $10 US more! WTF?!? Seriously, WTF??

So now I'm looking at aftermarket rims. I figured hey, if I'm not getting a screaming deal on USED rims, I might as well look at new custom ones.
