Oh, this one is weird!

I shooed a mosquito out of my car window the other day.
Little fu@$&er!!
Following day, I get in -- there's another one.
"What the hell man?"
Sure enough, just about every day I find a winged pecker hovering over the dash.

Let me just say for the record, I don't eat in the car. It's parked in a controlled underground lot.
I wash it once a week. This is one clean 91SE! I've pampered it from day one.
Anyway, I open the hood and sure enough -- there's a bucket of pork fried rice in there!!

Just kidding...

SERIOUSLY THOUGH -- I REALLY DO have bugs under my bonnet and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to rid the car of this strange infestation. I don't know where they are nesting, but fogging them out doesn't seem like the healthiest choice for me. Looking for a bright idea. You know, I put the OFF Skintastic spray on and people just seem to be avoiding me.

Suggest away...

Thanx,
Hadman

Hmmmm, try spraying some Lysol (or bug spray if you are brave ), in the vent while you run the fan. See if that gets rid of them.

luck

That's the thing...

Fogging them out with that stuff isn't the way I wanted to go. But I'm not sure powders will attract them.
Thanks for the sug though!

find where the HVAC system takes the air in for recirc and spray little bits of lysol into that, go through all the vents (air blowing through the lower, dash and defrost vents).
either that or spray little bits into the vents that take the air in that're under the windshield.
i know you didnt want to fumigate(sp?), but i'm just giving my $.02

dude, go buy a bug bomb, start your car, turn the fan on, set the bomb close your doors and watch. . . . you may not want to have your car running, cause it will take a while, but have the key turned. anyway, you have to give it so much time for it to clear, then open your windows and doors and let it air out. there will be no smell and your bug problem will be gone.

Are they mosquitos or just flies? I don't think mosquitos "nest" like hornets and stuff like that. Flies might be attracted to other stuff (dead mouse? ) which would draw them in. I don't think mosquitos congregate for anything like that.

I would try spraying the HVAC air intake at the base of the windsheild like suggested... I can't think of the other places air can get in or out right now...

Maybe check the mesh screen on the intake? If it's ripped maybe bugs can crawl/fly in that way.

The water - yep

The water is a good point. I did have a problem with the evap core. And had some nasty water spilling over into the cabin a few months ago. I cleaned the carpets etc, but the lines may still be attracting some kind of vermin.
As for getting rid of them, I guess I'll try spraying something into the vent with the air on. I was just trying to avoid doing that, because ultimately the spray is still going to be in the lines every time I turn the air on no matter how much I air it out with the windows down. I'm sure it will fade after time though.

While I have your attention though -- I have another post entitled "NOT another redundant guage lighting question". Haven't had much response to it. Hope you'll take a look at it and throw your two cents in.

Thanks for your input all.
