Duralast Brake pads
Duralast Brake pads
Hey hows it going, i was wondering if any of you are currently using duralast brake pads, and wanted to know what you guys thought about them. As you know they are sold pretty cheap at autozones, but my question is do they last long and is the quality worth it? Your input is appreciated. Im looking and i see Duralast Gold Cmax, duralast gold organic, and duralast semi metallic. Please let me know what you think , Thanks!
AZ/duralast are a cheap blend of quiet and stopping power.
you get what you pay for; if you pay for better, they will be quieter, and stop better.
they are "acceptable" for the basic function.
and are really dusty, so be prepared to clean the wheels often.

I have the golds on front and rear. They stop well and have lasted 20k so far. They have a lifetime warranty which is cool. I used to have an F150 that was heavily loaded constantly and used the same pads. The truck just ate front pads. Having the lifetime warranty saved me some serious cash.
Generally they give lifetime warranties under *defect*. Given the salesperson is smart enough to see there is uneven wear and/or some other adverse effects with the PADS (and not the vehicles braking system), you can get them swapped out for free.
For the money though, I wouldn't buy the cheap Autozone pads, nor would I buy the Wearever series at Advance (where I work). They are returned very often and are primarily used by people who don't really care about their car. I try to push the Wagner Thermoquiet semi-metallic's, they're usually less than $10 more than the mid grade pad and we get FAR less complaints and returns. They come with the shims built on to the back of the pads, they'll be less noisy, dust less, last longer, stay cooler, and stop better.

yeah... imo anyone that says that Duralast pads are "fine" has never even driven a car with good brakes, and therefore are comparing new Duralast pads to worn Duralast pads.
I'm sure the question is regarded towards the 3rd gen BUT the brake pads for the 3rd and 4th gen are the same part number so I'll go ahead and through my 2 cents.
I have Reybestos Ceramic Professional grade all around on my 3rd gen and they're awesome for what they are, yes I'm sure hawks are better but I'm not talking performance pads here.
On the 4th gen I have Raybestos Ceramic Professional grade in the front and Wagner ThermaQuiet I think is the name?? got em from Brian... anyway the brakes on my 4th gen are not as great as the 3rd gen probably cuz of the z31 upgrade..
drove my cousins 95 and hers came with new Duracrap Gold and I was pleasantly surprised just for the sheer fact that I was expecting real low of them before even driving the car so i guess having very low expectations made them feel better in the end lol
I'm getting hawks next

I currently have duralast brake pads on mine, and so far, I have not rear ended anyone, but have been rear ended once (slight bump, actually, scratched the paint). fine for a normal daily driver, imo.
I, too, will be going Hawk in the near future.

I used to always use Satisfied Ceramic pads and switched over to Duralast Gold C-Max pads and so far they've done quite well. I would do a nice slotted rotor setup, but my poor Max is just fallin apart on me. The engine sputters like mad, the auto-tragic tranny is slippin like crazy, the motor mounts are about shot and it needs a new steering rack. Wayyyy too much for a car that I bought for $1500. For the money I'd end out pouring into this car, I might as well buy a decent 4th gen Maxima....or dare I say an Accord?

yea i was considering hawk street performance pads, or oem, i have a hookup for oem nissan pads for 50 bucks, or 65 for the hawks in our forums, still thinking about it. do the hawk pads last long?

I got my Hawk brake pads today too. This will be my first set so I can't wait to try them on. $70 plus tax at a brake store near my campus.
UPDATE: Got them installed tonight and so far I'm loving them!
