90VG To 92VE Conversion

Yes I've done the search, found the thread and read it a few times. It seems he only swapped the engine control and engine compartment harness. From what I'm seeing here the airbag setup which includes the steering assembly and the instrument harness will need to be swapped as well. Does anyone know where I can get the special tool needed the pull the airbag sensor and control unit?

props on swapping, but are you doing it for horsepower? IMO the VG30E is easier to turbo, might have been easier to gain 100-150hp with a rebuilt Z31 turbo and intercooler like i'm doing vs. 30hp with a VE30DE. or did you just blow your VG?

I bought the 90VG shell for the VE. I much prefer the VE technology. No timing belt cars for me man.

it's just a honking huge torx bit. autozone MIGHT have one big enough

and i think he had to do a little bit of rewiring at the SMJ where the engine harness interfaces with the body harness. something to do with his turnsignal wiring as well, i believe.

I thought it was one of the torx safety screws, if it is you need a bit with a hole in the middle like these

They can be hard to find locally but if you can figure out the size they're easy to get online

yeah, the tamper proof torx are available at autozone/napa/etc. you may need to search a bit, and they may not be available at all locations, all the time.

he kept stalling it didn't he?

i'm mad they didn't run the fans during his run... and it overheated. especially important on turbo cars. i wonder how many HP he lost from them not running the fan.

no that was Goon9... i bought his headlights, hood, motor, and interior back in October of 08 when he parted it out. that motor is going to go into my Z also... the other one that i originally planned to use has rust on the crank and stuff.

Caped...ur wrong it's not a regular Torx bit. And I just took delivery on an engine harness for the 92VE5 from an org.member. As we speak I'm swapping a low mileage VQ35DE and tranny into my 02 Max. Next week VG to VE conversion begins...pic to follow, starting tomorrow.

Cool deal. Since you're going to run the VE 5 engine harness, are you also going to run the ECU? That way you can use the power valve

yeah i forgot it had the pin in the middle. my car didn't have an airbag but i remembered people talking about "torx" in the past (i work on servers so torx is pretty common on them). i have some security-torx in my toolkit but none big enough for that.

Brad rolled his VE...

Goon was planning on joining the military and had to get rid of it cuz it wasn't driveable at the time.

I ready have a full blooded VE5, I simply bought a nicer harness to swap into the 90VG shell instead of the corroded one I got working in the car. Besides the VE is my beater until I get the 02 swapped out and running this week? So I want to start wiring the 90VG while we're doing the swap on the 5.5gen. Confusing, huh.

Today I removed the engine control and engine compartment harness from the VG shell, while the engine harness was not a problem the compartment harness was extremely annoying. The VE engine harness is now swapped in. I misplaced my camera during the 02 engine and tranny swap so I gotta buy a new one to show you guys the carnage I got going on.
