Sunroof glass adjustment

I recently swapped out my cracked sunroof glass. Problem I'm having is when I took the old glass out there were only a couple shims, so I put the same shims in with the new glass and it wouldn't sit flush with the roof in the closed position. What I had to do is have no shims towards the front and like 5 shims on the rear. Problem with this is I barely can catch any threads with the bolts and it just doesn't look right to me. It operates perfectly this way but it doesn't make sense since I swapped out the glass with the same. Is there another adjustment I'm missing which would raise the back of the glass? I'm lost for ideas here.

Just a hint, my 93 GXE SOHC has one shim on each side in the rear for the sunroof. All may be different, but five shims seems excessive. Shims should be used to adjust the height so the sunroof is level with the roof.
