No battery, no keys. nothing else missing. $200

I have a truck and access to a trailer.

doooooooooooooooo it

even if noone here needs parts, just buy it for the lulz. there actually was a 94 VE 5spd by me for sale, a kids parents got it for him and he never drove it and its in the underground parking where he lives, it was low mileage and he said it needs a new rack/pinion and only $400 but he said it would need to be towed out and that would be a bear

no way to get a title? If you can in some way get a title why part it? pull the ignition off the column and bring it to a locksmith and they will make you a key for like $30 last I checked, but it's been a while. Mirror and window should be cheap easy replacements from a junk car and new windshields are what $100-150? New battery $50, still all fixed for under $300 + $200 for the car I say repair it as long as you can get the title, hell even if you can't some states don't require a title once it's over a certain age, sell it to someone in one of those states.

OP - ABSOLUTELY - whether to 'rebuild' and re-title (someone has the title - a VIN check can verify ownership - I suggest going to where ever you get your tag/tax/title done to do this for you)

chrome91 - Pickup and a 'two bar tow chain' to get it out of the garage.. then either trailer or whatever to get home with it.

two bar tow chain - buy two lengths of pipe (the 1" steel water pipe type) about 4' long each (both must be SAME length) - buy enough chain to create a V with the two pipes - buy 3 removable chain lengths (they have a side that unscrews to allow it to connect to the rest of the chain) - 2 of these connect to the tow hooks under the car - one connects to the 'bottom of the V - a short loop of chain to connect to the pickups hitch - allows you to slowly pull the car without lifting it. (if auto - you may have to manually move the transmission to N from under hood by disconnecting the shifter)

I can get the title easy enough. It has one of those auction letters. I need to see how bad it's been vandalized.

Once you have a title, can't you give the dealership a key code and the VIN? These are 1-key cars, so it's not 2 like my GMC.

Do it. Dibs on the tranny.

Let me know if you don't want it because I might just go down there and pick it up myself.

Saw that yesterday and was tempted to call. Seems like a pita fixer upper though, but for a couple hundred bucks it's a good buy if you can find out it runs. But, "bought it to fix but have since lost interest. I think it runs but not sure" is kind of suspicious. Sounds kind of like he knows it doesn't run. VE might have self destructed, car was abandoned, vandalized and then towed away..

Do you really got to ask? Not to jack your thread but I just found a green VE for part out. I didn't know the VE came in green. Wish I got that color instead of mine.

I don't think Nissan can cut keys for these cars anymore. They got rid of the key code info.

you can pull a tumbler, and take it to a locksmith (or have one come to the car), and get one cut.
presuming, of course, the sticker in the box is gone.

Buy It. Use it to create the first AWD J30 Maxima. Or part it out. Or use as parts car. I cannot find 3rd gens that cheap.

get another set of locks + keys from a junkyard while you're picking up the mirror and door glass. $120.
$100 for a new windshield.
$50 for a battery. Hell, ask the junkyard what batteries they have. they cart them off by the truckload- surely they have a cheap battery.

done.

MOST dealerships only have the key code from 95 and up.Assuming it's not behind the glove box (my current 92,93,94 do not have it)

Decide which dealership youre going
Obtain their dealership number
Call Nissan (1-800 Nissan)
Give them the vin# and they will indicate whether it's in their DB.Chances are it is. Arrange for them to contact the dealership youve chosen from above and provide the code.
It should cost between 30-40 dollars.
You will need to present ID and proof of ownership

I just had this done on my 93 after losing the keys to 6 vehicles.

The only issues you might have are employees from the actual dealership giving you a difficult time. Best option is too call Nissan FROM the dealership which has to be done M-F since Nissan isnt avail. on the weekends.

Then again I just remembered Greeny's car. Guess it wasn't common.

Hey Hectic, did you go out there and check it out?

The guy told me someone came out there, but didn't want it. If he calls or emails me before 5 p.m. tonight, I will go out there and take a look.

I am still working on some things. He didn't call me back like I asked. He emailed instead while I was rounding up the tow dolly. Then, I did some email conversing wth him that took up a lot of daylight. I wanted some additional info.

I should be getting it tomorrow unless someone else beats me to it. The guy lives waaaay out in the boonies, so hopefully, no one else will bother to drive out there for it. I'll see what happens. Either way, I am not going to worry about it. I thought my deal on the last two sets of wheels I got was better.

Ironic. Bro and I are going to flip a 92 Paseo. Guy is emissioning it, tabbing it and selling it for $200 also. Has 186k but had the T-belt done at 140k and everything works and the body is clean (no dents but need detailing).

Do it if the interior and body/paint is clean.

OK, I bought the car. Quite an adventure towing it with a beat up dolly on the freeway with a 40 mph headwind.

I will start a "parting out" thread soon in the for sale section.

here is a starting list:

Bad engine (haven't opened the hood, probably has usable coil packs, VI, etc)
Nice interior (velour, no rips, needs cleaning)
lots of small body damage (vandalized with basalt rock)
good VE tails
good grille
good airbag (black)
some good interior parts (gauge cluster, stereo surround, etc)
trans might be spoken for
I am keeping the minty fog lights
