Mishimoto radiators

eventually im going to need a new radiator and i was looking at Mishimoto radiators, however for Maximas they only make them for 4th gens (95-99's) with VQ30. would there be any way to use one on a 3rd gen VG or no?

http://www.mishimoto.com/mishimoto-p...ima-95-99.html

or would a universal Mishimoto radiator be better?

That VQ radiator wouldn't line up with the 3rd gen coolant hoses. The 3rd gen coolant lines are actually opposite of that VQ one pictured.

This one might work

Just curious, why are you wanting to go with one of those?

when i got my engine work done the guy said someone previously mixed tapwater with coolant and now my radiator has some hairline cracks, so i want to replace it within a few months.

i was going with Mishimoto because im trying to make the 3rd gen a track car and ive heard good things about Mishimoto, is there a better aftermarket brand? i also drive spirited in the city (4k shifts on average) and wouldnt mind the extra cooling

Most 300zx non turbo (1990-1996) radiator should work.

I have a Mishimoto radiator in my tt 300zx and I dont believe they make one for the non turbo, but something like this my do the job. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-96...item3f010b4953

I have never overheated with stock radiator. My engine is turbocharged and generates alot of heat. I have used stock maxima radiators at the track on NA 300zx without issues. Many z owners use maxima radiators as upgrades. If you are worried about too much heat during "racing condition" maybe you should invest in an oil cooler

through 9 psi of boost and running it rather hard! i changed out the thermostat and the coolant as well ... i rewired my fans too so both come on when i want and off when i want, next is an oil cooler just to be safe once i up the boost.

well while some boosted 3rd gen people are here, i have a question

my crankshaft pulley was extremely wobbly late May and i got it replaced. it has a slight wobble now, but everything is tight and i was told its the crankshaft itself, but its a very slight wobble

i would prefer to go turbo with the original VG30E now, but will that crankshaft problem make it not worth it? otherwise i was just going to get a VG30ET from a Z31, but again i have always taken extremely good care of my current VG30E and would like to keep it

thanks for the radiator info, probably will go with the Koyo

whether you use your motor or not.. id stick with a stock max motor.. 9:1 is great. ive ran 20 psi on stock maxima motors quite regularly.. given you tune it correctly. Now that crank pulley issue... now that doesn't sound good. If the snout of the crank is bent or rounded over at all, i wouldn't bother with that engine.. seems like something that could easily come back and bite you in the butt.

On the cooling issue.. if you dont ever plan on taking your car out on a road course.. the stock radiator will be fine as long as its not a thin replacement one. I never had a cooling issue with my stock radiator on track however when it cracked a tank and i replaced it with an aftermarket one that (to my dismay) happened to be thinner... i did.. but barely... on 12 psi... on a hot day... pushing it. My point is, if your cooling system is healthy.. you will most likely never have cooling problems with the stock radiator.

that sucks

i'll ask the guy to look again and make sure its just not the pulley again, hes the one that has been prepping the car for racing and he wont half-**** anything and he blew it off so i dunno. i can easily get another VG30E from the junkyard but dont want to if i dont have to

would there have to be a reason the crank would do that? or just age?

if the crank pulley bolt gets loose at all it can start to wobble and that will wear both the snout of the crank and the inside of the pulley.

welp that delays my plans a bit lol. i wanted to get the rest of my turbo parts in the next coming months and buy a cheap $800 Cressida or S13 to drive around and leave the Max in the garage and do the turbo setup over the winter myself but i cant then.

i'll have it looked at again and if it is the crank itself get a new engine probably next summer i guess then proceed with things. which is in a way better because i can get someone to help me

VE30DE swap is in the back of my head as well, ive heard theyre good but i would have to take a ride in a VE 3rd gen to justify the wiring headaches
