JUN stroker kit

Would the JUN stroker kit for the VG have any chance of being doable in a VE

I didn't even know there WAS a stroker kit available for either engine!

A quickie check of the FSM seems to look like the crankshaft for both engines are the same (judging by the specs), but the pistons and connecting rods (on the small end) are different.

What does this kit include? Usually stroker kits include a crankshaft and connecting rods, right? I don't see them changing the piston to do it.

The VE has a slightly bigger diameter at the piston pin side, so I don't know if you could just get that end bored out to the right size or not....

Again, this is just by looking at the specifications. There could be other issues too, like if the new crank fits into the case or hits anything (oiling system?). Whether if it would physically fit or even if anything is the same or not I don't know without seeking a higher power. (Who's the engine guru here anyway?)

BTW, how much extra displacement does this give you?

http://www.junauto.co.jp/products/cy...custom-kit/?en

VG30DETT 89.0x87.0mm 1029M-N007 3.2L (Shaved Crankshaft)
FULL COUNTER CRANKSHAFT 1

JUN'S SUPER PISTON KIT 1 SET

JUN'S SUPER CONNECTING RODS 1 SET

Wonder if it works in non-turbo version? Might has well completely overhaul the engine if you are doing this...

Doh! I just read that page, and my old articles about strokers, and I found out they DO usually just change the piston, not the connecting rod. Makes sense since I think it's easier to fabricate pistons rather than steel connecting rods.

I don't know exactly how the VG30DETT is designed internally, but the pistons that kit comes with may have a dish or something that reduces the compression ratio (for the turbo application) compared to a regular VG. These pistons might fit, but they might lower the compression ratio too. Not sure about this (heads or pistons?).

I dunno, for only 0.2 litres more displacement I personally wouldn't bother unless you need to rebuild your engine anyway. Even then maybe not (extra cost, hassle, uncertainty, etc). If it were something like 3.5L or higher then I might start getting excited.

More insight anyone?

I am pretty sure it bumps you up to a 3.3 but those numbers are
from super street so I should probably go by your 3.2. I have a couple of ideas but think I sould do more searching before I post anything

Re: JUN stroker kit

I'm sure you could use the VG30DETT crank/rods/pistons but that would be very expensive especially if your going with JUN products (which are among the best of the best). All these parts + machine work = $4-5k. Personally if I wanted to make more NA power than bolt ons, I'd do some 11.0-12.0CR forged pistons, headwork and get some custom ground camshafts.

If you guys really want to spend the money (I sure do but don't have the dough) and this stroker kit will work, it would be a great addition to any of our 3rd gen's. Though, you could always get your heads polished and ported for a similar increase in power, yet it would end up being a little cheaper. What do you guys think about the HP increase? It would be about 10-20hp wouldn't it? Damnit! Why do you guys have to keep finding something cool for me to go blow more money on!

Nope, no kit for the VE. And if you guys are gonna spend like 5 grand building up the VG, you might as well spend a little more and just buy the Hekimian Racing VG. 300+ hp N/A!

I'm definitely holding out for that Hekimian! I wish all these major upgrades didn't have to cost so much. Oh hell, I might as well go all the way, take the hood off my car, and drop a 454ci (with a blower of course!) in my GXE! We need somebody to take a 3rd gen all the way, so we can see what it would turn out like. Unfortunately, most people would have to sell their kids and maybe some body parts to afford some of these high prices. I guess I better get back to robbing banks!
