Understanding offset

So I thought I would share this information for those trying to understand how rim offsets work since everyone is always asking if some rim will work.

Offset calculator
http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

http://www.infinitig37.com/wheel-tech.html
Here is a page I would like to share that shows how positive and negative offset works please read so that those not so automotively inclined can get a better understanding and we can have less repeat threads about "will these rims fit" since if you have rim width and offset information it will tell you how much inner or outer distance to shock and/or fender you will have. Also you will need to know what the factory rims width and offset is.

my favorite wheel/tire calc.
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
shows the backspacing, tire sizes (tread section/height), and down at the bottom, what dimensions change from wheel to wheel (it sticks out this much further, or how much closer it will be inside.
and there's pictures

for reference, stock wheel dimensions:
GXE: 15x6, +35mm offset
SE: 15x6.5 +35 offset
205/65/15 tires

more wheel specs for stock z wheels:
