What is the difference in the layouts between the 89-91's and the 92-94's Joshua Tree Aluminum Dash Trim? AS far as I can see between the two of my max's they look the same. Is it the location of the clock/air vent? Or something else? I'm confused as to why they only make them for the 92-94 maximas...WTF?

the dash trim plate is just a little different.. in the 89-91, the dash is flat..
in the 92-94, the inside of the dash is recessed about 3/8" at the top, to angle it upwards more.. I guess that's for better ergonomics or so you can see the display better.. dunno exactly, but that's the main difference..

a coupld people have asked about this, and my thought is that you may be able to get a 92-94 center dash piece for your car, then you should be able to get the JT aluminum kit..

that answer your Q?

I checked the shadow sheet references for both cars on JT website. I think Matt's idea will work for the center dash piece but the 92-94 side pieces(covering the vents) seem to also be different from the 89-91 Max. I don't know how we could resolve that unless you buy the 92-94 kit and just don't use those pieces. Seems kinda like a waste of money though.... Hopefully we can get enough people who want it and we can get an order going. Looks like Vic (he is running a group deal for 4th and 5th gen Max aluminum kits) is going to check to see if they will make one for our car.

Late,
