My Max

I have been on the site for a bit, and I thought I would introduce my Max. It is a 91 SE with a VG (obviously). I picked it up for $200 in a barely running/shouldn't have been running condition. it has been a work in progress since the start (2.5 years). I have redone the exhaust (most of it), replaced the gas tank straps, replaced the rear exhaust manifold studs (only 1 of 6 was holding, and the others sheared in the head), resurfaced the manifold, new fuel filter, oil, oil filter, coolant flush, battery, 6 injectors, water pump, front main and front cam seals, timing belt and tensioner, all belts, bled out all break lines, and a few other things i cant remember.

To do yet, front lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, both cv shafts (still ok, but need in the future), 4 tires, windshield, windshield washer resivour, some body work, figure out why my cruise, horn and lighter don't work, rear struts, ps pump, and some very minor things.

Everything but the windshield have been or will be done by me.
I love the car, and the wife says go for it (when we have a few extra dollars) but the car is now road worthy and it is nice to be in a 5 speed!

life is good,
Adam

Nice car man, wish I could find another 3rd gen for around that price, or a nice 2nd gen. Welcome to the club!

Well guys, thank you for the welcome! So far I love this car, and so does my son who was helped me work on it almost every step of the way. With the front end being a little squirrely with the rough ball joints and tie rod ends and the tires needing replacement soon,(and needing 1 injector yet) i have only hit the powerband once and it was a good feeling !

Someone asked me why I would put more $ into a car then it is worth, i said personal worth is far greater then KBB, besides, buy a new car off the lot and 6mo down the road, you are paying more then it is worth, are you not?

i love it thus far, thats for sure!

Ditto to what Tool says-- I picked my 93 SE up for 500, put about 450 into it, and have a fun, functional commuting car that with a few more bucks will be even more exceptional ride... so far, new front axles, d/s strut, Warpspeed Y-pipe. Next comes the new knock sensor...

Maybe I'll get him a dang 4th gen, without modding their so much slower than the VE...which might be a good thing with him being a young driver and all.
