I accidentally...

... another 3rd gen

90 GXE, previously owned by nc90gxe. Stock VG engine. 5spd swap installed by me in April 2009, fidanza'd in Oct 2009, then LSD swapped after I parted my pearlwhite 90 out in 2010. VE grille/tails. STS is from pacesetter i think?

Lowered 1.9" on intrax (hopefully soon to be Eibach, since it's a DD). 11.65" 5.5gen front brake kit from my old max installed as part of the LSD swap. z31 rear rotors with a set of rear calipers I got from goon9. ST or Addco (forget?) rear swaybar w/ Blehmco links. Also has FSTB.

aug 6th 2011:

replaced the overly-shortened STS with a modified stock one. the rubber bushing has been replaced by steel, and i added a kink on the top of the shifter to make the **** straight up and down in neutral, rather than angled.

there's a couple of things i'm demodding on it.. right now it's got solid metal motor mounts, which I will take off when I get the poly ones done. also i will be removing the STS and putting on a slightly modified stock shifter, and also will be going back to a stock flywheel. call me lazy but i like the extra inertia.

then as far as upping the performance.. will be putting the cobra 17x8's on it with 245/45/17 tires, and some other stuff TBD at a later date.

yea not sure if i'm keeping the leather tho. It's not very pliable anymore, so i might look into a set of black velour seats or something.

I'm putting 17" cobras on my 3rd gen this week, but before i do, will I need to get any hub-centric rings?

well after my max's rear suspension went bad, i got the 04 civic, tried modding that but it failed at life. then i got a 08 WRX, and just sold that, which is how i got this car cuz i sold the WRX to nc90gxe in exchange for his Max and picking up the rest of the loan.

and then there was the red 85 Z, that i got in aug 09, started working on, then found a white 86 in apr 10, which has wider fenders so i started working on that instead.. then this month I found an 86 turbo so now i'm getting rid of the other 2 z's and working on the turbo.

not a bad idea... i forget how much bigger the ford hubs are but it's enough to need rings.

About time you bastid.

That's definitely an Addco rear sway. Is that a respray?

Definitely in for the Cobras over those G35's or whatever they are

it is an addco i just can't remember who i brought it from (forum member though). the wheels came from suraTT or something like that (forum member as well). i didnt know the difference between those g35's and the coupe wheels at the time but the coupe wheels would have fit perfect with no rub and great tire wear. sad to see it go, especially getting near the top of its game. no regrets though the wrx is a blast and subtle, the cops dont even notice me.

there is also a lightweight crank pulley on there (stock diameter)

Is that the one that was painted a couple years back? Still looks nice.

Good to get an idea of what my steering wheel is going to look like when installed. There's a very good reason why I haven't test fitted it myself.. Looks better than I imagined, but still not as good as the 4 spoke I must say, and not as comfortable with that 3rd spoke @ 6:00, which is right where I put my hand half the time.

nice, welcome back. Is that sway bar purple? my ST bars were neon green so i painted them with leftover metallic gray wheel paint

Cobra rims = win

that or if you go with the G35 coupe version of those 6spoke wheels, do this too:

yea, respray. some sort of enamel paint that doesn't use clearcoat, but there was no bodywork done so the front bumper is still kinda decayed underneath the paint.

def going with the cobras, since i've already got them sitting in boxes. i got them for my 85 z (narrow fenders), but when i got the 86 z (wide fenders) i discovered that i could fit the 17x9 cobra-r's with no issues, which is what i have set aside for that now. but until i got this car, i had nothing to put the 17x8 cobras on.

long-term. got a few new things i'm going to try that haven't ever been done before on a 3rd gen (or perhaps any car, anywhere) that this car gives a rare opportunity to do. stuff i'd thought of when i had the pearl one, but never got around to doing.

not keeping the leather on this one i don't think never really been a big fan of leather on anything, and this stuff is kinda stiff and unpliable so i'd rather just go with fabric.

i hate when that happens, ive become more paranoid lately when i see the sun beating in on the leather Its better to keep on top of it and clean/condition them early rather than try to "restore" the leather after its worn like that. It looks like your seats have taken a decent beating (pun intended?) from the sun so i can understand why youd want the cloth, or maybe find some better condition leather seats for sale? Guess that depends on how badly you want leather

i've never been a fan of leather.. only time i would normally have it is on a car that it's too hard to find cloth for, like a BMW. i don't have kids so its not like i have to worry about "oh can i just wipe it off" if something spills on it cuz i don't really spill stuff.
