I think I'm in love please help

Lol. But seriously I love my car 92 se ve30de motor I bought it for $700 from a crack dealer. Replace carpet to black , fixed injector, install intake, new tires. But now I want new paint n maybe turbo with stillen body kit. It's has 240,000 miles. the front lifters are starting to clap lol. N I need a new clutch. Is this car worth investing for power or looks? Ii come from having a turbo 2 rx7 fully modded.

I feel your pain. Mine was not love at first sight, but I'm now happily married to my 5th gen. However, she's kind of a diva & loves shopping. Besides the purchase price, she probably has twice her fair market value's worth of upgrades.

It's all in what you want & how long you plan to keep her, since we both know it's money you won't be getting back upon divorce. If you're like me, if it's not spent on the one you have, you'll spend it on the one you replace her with (or the monthly payments on the younger ones).

It's so hard because I love turbo. I guess I'm going to have to go to my local turbo shop called central Florida turbo n check t see how much it's going to cost to get it done. Then I'll paint with stillen kit. Then I'll call it a day.

Financially speaking, It's usually not worth dumping money into any car. But if you want to do it, and plan on keeping it, you're the only one who can decide if it's "worth it" or not. That's high miles though, and regardless of how much money you put into a car, it's still worth about the same to the insurance companies.

I don't think I would put out the money to turbo an engine with 240k. It would be a total shame to pay for a custom turbo set up only to develop rod knock or have your rings start failing badly in a few months.

The price of the car sounds fair, but if you are going to do the stuff you mentioned, I would suggest getting a boneyard VE and rebuilding it specifically for going turbo.

There are people here that have gone through the process and have a lot of insight on what to do, parts, etc.

Expect to spend several thousand dollars all said, but it will be a fun ride until the input shaft bearings go!

If your really motivated to custom boost your 3rdgen then you should rebuild/build your motor first. In the end you would spend atleast 6 grand and then you would still have the exterior to deal with. For that kinda dough you can a Volvo 850 R model/T5 or a Volvo s70 Turbo model. I have a '96 Volvo 850 w/Turbo and it's a great alternative to a Maxima. The 3rdgeneration Maxima is one of my favorite 4 door sedans and the Volvo 850 or S70 is another sexy 4 door sedan from the 90's era. If you have to have a Maxima then the 5.5 gen w/6 speed manual would be my next choice.
