radio swap with '93 Altima factory headunit
radio swap with '93 Altima factory headunit
hello:
I have a 1994 Nissan Maxima with a bad BOSE headunit. I have aftermarket speakers installed from when I had my aftermarket headunit (which I had gifted to my girlfriend and had it put in her Taurus). I recently bought a radio that was from a 1993 Altima. When I got it, I noticed that the plugs did not match up. I was wondering if I could snip the radio wire harness plug out of an altima at a junkyard and got an antenna adapter if it would work. Any suggestions or an easier route to take?

Do you use Ebay?
DONT snip your factory harness
buy a radio harness for the maxima. it will plug right into your stock maxima plugs
splice the loose wire end of that harness with the stock altima harness. You can buy the stock harness on ebay. It will be listed as a radio harness "repair kit" or something. For when people snip the factory harness which is a horrible idea 100% of the time.
that way you will have a harness that plugs into your stock maxima plugs, and your altima headunit.
is the altima headunit Bose? if so it wont work with the aftermarket speakers but im hoping/guessing you're not going that route
forget the Ebay I overlooked the junkyard part. Yes snip the factory harness from the junkyard altima, but still get a maxima harness; one from the store that plugs into your stock ones.
