Brake Light Problem - HELP!!!

I checked the search function, but couldn't find anything to solve this problem.

I've got the stock wing, and for some reason, the brake light won't light up when I hit the brake pedal. I've checked the fusebox, and the fuse is OK. I've also replaced both bulbs, and I gets no love! The wires seem to be fine, unless I'm missing something somewhere.

Please help a brotha out… This is bugging the sh#t out of me.

Thanks, Bro!!!

I'll give it another once-over. Thanks for the compliment, but I couldn't hold a candle to your car - that is one sharp a$$ ride!!!

Congrats on the black leather seats (I read that thread). I hope you can find somebody to fix that power option on them.

I'll check out your site for the wheels & tires, and if I see something I like, I'll let you know

get a volt meeter and check that you are getting voltage or current to the bulbs. Have some one press down on the pedal while you get a reading. should be +/-12 v DC depending on which lead you put where.

If you are not getting a voltage check the switch on the brake pedal. it may have ceased functioning or just be out of adjustment.

N34JZ…

OK, bro...

I've seen the wheels I want, so let me see what YOU can do...

...17" Circ's on 45-50 Series tires. Shipped to Wilmington, CA

Talk to me - these are the wheels I've been looking for... I love how they look on the I300's. I don't want to be jealous of them anymore!

FroMan - Good lookin' out. I'm going to check that as well. Where would I find the switch for the brake pedal that you're referring to?

Re: N34JZ…

You'll need a flash light crawl under the drivers side dash and look at the brake pedal. At some point along the lever arm you'll see a couple of wires leading to a small box. Its kind of hard to explain. Perhaps someone could scan you the copy of the FSM page.... I think its in there some where.

look at the top of the brake pedal, you will see a little "box" aobut 1x2 inches if that
it has 2 wires going in it, one red with white stripe, one red with yellow stripe. The red/yellow is power and connects to teh red/white when hte pedal is depressed. You'll have to get on the floor and look up there to see it though

if the rest of your brake lights are working, then this is fine though
Test the wires inside the spoiler light, connect the + probe to the red/white wire adn teh - to black wire. You should see 12V when brake is depressed. If so, then your problem is in the bulb socket probably. If not, follow the wire back to the trunk. It goes down the left (drivers side) arm of the trunk lid. You can take off the trunk lining to see it. If you cant find teh problem then, you could always run a new wire off the brake lights in teh back and then up the trunk arm to the spoiler light like the stock one is.

good luck
