Another 3rd Gen Coilover Thread

Yeah I got a list of parts manufactured for Nissans and saw K-Sport had coilovers for the 3rd gen guys who supposedly still claim that no1 makes coilovers for you guys...... Anyone want to take the plunge? PM me.

KSport won't confirm if it's for the A31 or J30 though :/

Just says "89-94 Maxima"

looks like A31...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ksport-Versi...-/330761032647

then this is J30...
http://www.bonanza.com/listings/Kspo...4-J30/30919163
but from the pics the rear will definitely NOT work.

Very tempting until I saw those pics as well Dan.

Won't fit on rear suspension. If it had even resembled it I would've been all over them in a second.

Like Dan said its for the A31. We've been through this numerous times. Even most of the sellers truly believe its for the 3rd gen Maxima. I'm guessing at some point somebody with the catalog falsely attributed it to the 3rd gen so that misinformation is very widespread now.

Thanks for stopping by Aaron, but this is beating a decaying horse. Its been touched on so much that we all become knumb to the thought of coilovers on these cars. Plus they would cost what the car is worth and no one here wants to pay for that. Along with they would throw the rest of the suspension geometry off.

"*Pictures may not be application specific."

"IMAGE USED FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY, ACTUAL PRODUCT MAY VARY."

-I want to ask... has anyone legitimately brought a set and tried them out?

If not, I think all of you guys are just full of talk as usual

i'll buy a set....if they don't fit i'm going to return them for a 100% full refund plus my cost of sending them back.

let me know. also i assume you're authorized reseller since these POS made in china components will probably blow/break within a year on NYC roads.

From their site part number looks to be....CNS030-KP

i'm going to call K-sport sales to confirm application and make sure they have a clue on how the rear struts go into the car. if the guy tells me something different then some how unbolting/cutting the old strut tube out and some how retrofit these POS components in the car then i'm out.

Awesome, that's all I wanted to hear

If the box ends up coming here first... A Maxus shirt may end up in your package somehow

I know... I'll google some pics on stock 3rd gen suspension, i'll have it shipped here first to check the product, if not I'll have them pick it up and return it as a wrong product that way we don't loose $$ on shipping

Sound good?

[edit]
Ok can someone find me some pics of stock suspension components to compare?

this is the rear strut....it's a tube that's basically fused into the rear spindle. there's pretty much 0 chance a coil over will work here unless someone wants to try and cut the tube and weld some kind of bracket. KYB and whatever aftermarket is left just uses an insert that goes into the tube as the replacement for stock unit.

Has anyone tried to swap the Japanese spec Maxima/Cefiro suspension on a US Spec Maxima? If that's possible then you can have yourself a 3rd gen with coilovers.

Naw it just won't work. Its like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. Its obvious. The closest set up we could get would be similar/same as the Cressidas or 510 that have our insert into tube design. Coilovers for Cressidas come as a whole and you have to cut the old tube out of the round bracket and weld in the coilover in its place. Therefor the coilover is mounted to the spindle via that bracket. The 510's coilover comes as a coilover with spindle attached. Either way our community is not that active or that big.

Cefiro is RWD...so their set up is closer to S13 body instead of ours.

i don't have a problem cutting that tube and welding something in there to make it work...but they don't exactly sell frankenstein coil over pieces...you know what i mean? what set up is going to match up with the stock top plate?
what about length?

That would be nice and pretty sure others of us would have done this if it were offered. But we don't have a big enough fan base for someone to go out on a limb and create them for us.

Right now i'm on Powered By Max coilovers for an s13. I'm still trying to get the rears perfect. It required some cutting/grinding and two 21mm x 80mm(IIRC) high grade bolts. I'll do a write-up when I double check all the measurements and take pics, but right now the car's on jackstands to have the oil pan shortened and motor/trans raised

Well its obvious you have coilovers but the area that everyone wants see if the rears. Fronts can be done the rears is where we meet problems.
