Cruise Control Diagnostics

Hey all,

So I thought I would post my findings and see what people have had experience with. I have no CC, no lights, no response from anything.

My switch does not give me connectivity through the neutral position as it should. When held "on" it has connectivity across the wires as the FSM switch diagram, within the wiring diagram for the ASCD system, indicates. Do these switches go bad, or is it impossible to test certain connections without power?

Also, the pump acts oddly in comparison to the way it should when tested. It operates almost 100% effectively if I reverse the direction of the plug itself. In other words, if I flipped the plug upside down, it works when I give it power and test it like the FSM indicates.

If I do exactly as the book says, and not flip it around, I just hear a click from the small motor. I can activate the pump and pressure release valve when it's flipped around, though.

I am willing to bet it's not my switch, but rather the actuator. I thought I would ask you guys what's up before I dig under the dash to test the control box, which I seriously doubt is messing me up. I wish I could use my CC on my trip this weekend, but oh well....

Thanks!

Also, I must add that the cruise control worked great initially after my 5spd swap, and I have no clutch sensors wired up, just the brake sensor. After this last transmission removal and re-instillation, the CC is no more......

Although the switch is known to commonly go out.

Hmm, no joke? I have heard only that the actuating devices become faulty, but mainly due to old diaphragm crappin out. I took apart the switch and gave the metal contacts some more oomph by bending them a bit so they make better contact. The bench test still proves the same, but maybe it will work in the car. Thanks Maximo

Try replacing it.

Who wants to help make this happen? I know someone reading this doesn't want 3 of them laying around? Which, by the way, if you need some stock air filters, shocks, axles, etc. Give a shout
