Coolant Not Circulating-Here Is My Plan

-The water pump is making a rattling sound.
-I removed the bolt from the top of the PCV valve location to release air and ideally, allow coolant to come out. Nothing happened (normal engine temperature).
Thought that I would clean the two sensors to the thermostat, replace thermostat and water pump.
How does this sound? Thanks BA.

Sounds like a plan. I understand the noise you are describing, just don't take having observed no coolant coming out from the air vent plug as being able to diagnose a bad thermostat or water pump. If your coolant is low or there are significant air pockets in the system, then it is likely that no coolant will come out the vent port even at operating temps.
If you are certain the sound is coming from the water pump, then you should go ahead and change everything listed. Keep in mind that when bleeding air from the system, the best way to do it is to have the car facing an incline, refill radiator and leaving cap off, run engine, and add coolant as needed. This method effectively allows the heater core to refill while also completely removing air pockets through out the entire system by pushing them to the front - the radiator. If after doing all that you want to be certain, then put the car back level and release the vent bolt. You should have only coolant, no bubbles coming out at that point.
