I'm not sure about there being an after market security system, in that I just bought the car from a friend of a friend.
The car does have surprises under the hood, given to one and their southern engineering.

I've got one like that, except it runs from what I can only assume is my ignition, to a relay, then on to the starter.
Perhaps a bypass because the car wouldn't start otherwise is my guess. Looking at the clutch safety switch wire, its chewed up, no doubt that'd be a good cause. The car starts with the clutch pedal pressed or not.
Worked in my favor when the clutch went out on me!
