Transmission problem

okay so my transmission in my 89 maxima was making a grinding sound for a while an i had the clutch replaced thinking it was the throw out bearing but it wasn't it for some reason the transmission oil kept leaking out and now i can drive it but it doesn't have power i step on it and goes nowhere.would it help to rebuild it.plus i can't find any around me in the gainesville area and if i do there like $450 bucks...any ideas or help i can get would help alot.oh yeah one last this is there any other cars with the same transmission as the 89 maxima and its 5spd that i need. thanks for any help.

the bellhousings are integrated into the transmission case, so the only car that would have this transmission is another VG-engined FWD car... and I'm not aware of any that came to the US.

I think nc90gxe (member on here) has a VG 5spd trans in his garage that he's not using. But that's about 5-6 hours drive from gainesville GA. I might be going to his place in a couple of weeks though, if you can wait that long. I have friends in Atlanta that I've been meaning to visit... maybe something could be worked out.
