Thanks Danny, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was lucky that it turned out that I had to do this during Christmas break, so there was no real rush.

So thats what is involved.....

My god man. So if you ever need to change your transmission you have to get the engine out? Looks like it was a hard job. Those pictures looked very interesting and I can see parts of the motor I thought I would never get to see.

So what happened to your other tranny? Can you tell me how you knew it was broken?
So how is the new tranny? Shift better? Smoother and have that sure feel that it is shifting right? What sort of tranny fluid did you put in the new tranny? Sorry about all teh questions but Im just wondering.... hehe

Nah.. you can easily pull the tranny with the engine in.. it's much easier that way actually. took me about 3 hours to pull my tranny.

Then again, an auto tranny is a lot more fun than a 5 spd, but it's still the same basic thing. jsut a few more wires and fluid lines to remove- no biggy.

The other tranny was pretty much dead when I replaced it. First gear wouldn't get me hardly anywhere, it would take up to 15 seconds for it to shift into any other gear or downshift, second gear slipped, but reverse worked like new. The fluid was a dark brown muddy color and was thick as hell. It's pretty obvious when your transmission is going out. I just found out from a mechanic that you don't need to remove the engine to change the transmission, I never knew until he told me, but it was a good expereicne and easier to do the timing belt, oil pan seals, and exhaust studs. The new transmission is nice I'm still a little bit paranoid and am always turning down the music to listen to the engine and transmission. The shifts are hard now and the downshift into 2nd jerks you foward. I put Mobil 1 synthetic and also an aftermarket cooler on, I made sure to flush the old cooler so that the other debris wouldn't get in the new transmsision. I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures.
